Hello Everyone! Just wanted to introduce stryder (and) myself, as I adopted Stryder (aka ask/rocky) this past weekend. He has been such a sweetheart so far, only issue being a little bit of barking during the day (at least no one seems to have said it was more yet). His first two nights have been great though! He's learning to take the stairs, however he did cut himself going down the stairs this morning...hopefully we will be able to get him to walk on the runners instead of the wood with time. Otherwise he seems to be making himself at home and ignores the cats even though one of them is always hissing at him. The other just wants to smell him when he isn't looking

What a very handsome boy, and he looks so comfy and at home already - congratulations and welcome!
It doesn't take much to cut that thin skin, does it?

What a very handsome boy, and he looks so comfy and at home already - congratulations and welcome! It doesn't take much to cut that thin skin, does it? Thanks He's settling in fairly well. He spent some time at the dog park tonight and with my bf's dog....he was great at the park a bit of barking but overly good. Had a few growls at home with the dogs but they are adapting well. The cut seems to be ok - looks sore but he's not noticing so i'll just have to keep an eye on it. No further incident so far with the stairs though and he tackled a lot of stairs today visiting Rockford at my bfs.

Hi Stryder's Mom - you have no idea how happy I am to read your post! Congratulations on taking Stryder (Rocky) home. He was with us for almost 8 months and we have been so sad missing him. I'm all teary seeing his pictures and knowing that he has a new home! What a huge relief I was going to post to ask Jiffer if he was adopted this weekend because his picture was no longer on the adoptables list. I'm impressed that he's tried the stairs. Our Pearl is great at stairs but Rocky, I guess Stryder, wanted nothing to do with them in the house. He seemed fine on some of the stairs in our neighbourhood, but they tended to be less steep. Also impressive that he's hanging out with your dobie. He definitely tends to growl when humans or other dogs get too in his space, but the dogs always seem to straighten it out. Pearl would generally just ignore him or give him some room. Funny with the barking. He'd always bark at the other dogs in our dogpark here when he wanted to play, but of course, they were all running around off leash and he couldn't do that. He really loved playing with Pearl, so it's so nice that he has a friend to play with at your end too. Enjoy him and give him love from us. If you'd ever like to get in touch, feel free. I have no idea what the etiquette or rules are for giving our email addresses but Bill has our number if you'd like any info from us. Take care and again, congratulations! Nadine

Awww I've had the pleasure of meeting Stryder before, he's a beautiful boy and it looks like he's getting along with your other dog well already. I better not show these pics to DBF, he's on a dobie kick right now and wants one! Keep us updated on how he's doing in his new home.

Thanks everyone Stryder has just been a sweetheart. We're on day 5 now and things seem to be going alright. Hoping to have him spend more time with Rockford this weekend as the boys aren't living together yet. They'll be getting about 3 days a week together, sometimes only 2. Otherwise Stryder seems to be doing alright. Loves to do a complete tour of the apartment whenever we come back from a walk, has to make sure every room is still there Just concerned his poo is still really soft...anyone know how long until I should worry it might just be the food? I know I pm'd Jiffer about it as well. Maybe i'm just used to the doberman. But he is eating all of his breakfast and dinner and has been since I first brought him home and he's drinking plenty of water. Will make sure I keep updating Have you taken him to your vet yet? You'll probably want to get a stool sample done. With so many dogs at the kennel it can be very easy for them to get some kind of parasite and this could be contributing to his soft stool. It's a quick fix with some medication from the vet. Or it could be due to a change in his food, but I would definitely do a stool sample.

Thanks for the suggestion. I talked to Jiffer and she suggested the vet as well. We are arranging to take a stool sample to them as well.
