Hi, Could we start a "Greyhound knowledgeable vets" thread here by - let's say - geographical breakdown? A lot of people are asking me if I know vets who know Greys. I guess this would be a helpful message for all of us to find one - especially for the newly adoptive Grey owners. Krissy

Hello all, I found one for Lexie in Aurora. It took some phoning but the Golf Glen Vet Clinic in Aurora knows greys. They had taken care of 3 before I got there. Lexie had her check up and teeth cleaned and no problems. They do know what they are doing, for anyone in that area or any new people in the future. JuneM

For those of you in London, we take our grey to Dr. Warren Staples. He is located on Commissioners Rd between Wharncliffe and Wonderland. He has been around forever and he actually used to do the spaying and neutering for GRA. We love him and his prices are reasonable.

In Stratford we take ours to The Romeo Pet Hospital on Romeo Street. Dr Sealey and Dr. Gillies are wonderful.

Here in Strathroy, we take ours to Strathroy Animal Clinic. Their prices are quite reasonable, and they have a number of greyhounds and whippets as clients.

I take Roman to Talbot Animal Hospital and I think he cares for quite a few greys. However, I'm actually switching over to Dr. Staples because Talbot Animal Hospital is a little on the pricey side. Good vet, but for a student you have to go where the best prices are!!

In Toronto (North York): Willowdale Animal Hospital, on Sheppard just west of Senlac. Our "personal vet" is Dr. Kate Hall - one of the most amazing vets we have ever encountered. Knows more about greyhounds than anyone we've met - in and out of the medical profession. And, her "Dawson" was adopted from GRA. (If I get seriously ill and the local ER can't take me, I want to be treated by HER. ;D )

In north Scarborough (McCowan and Hwy 7) Dr Cliff Redford at Wellington Veterinary Clinic is excellent. He has retired greyhounds of his own, and he does the vetting for one of the adoption groups in Toronto. Their website address is www.wvcnews.com/index.phpOn their homepage there's a pic of Dr Redford with one of his greys.

In Bright's Grove (Sarnia area) - Cuz goes to Rodger Griffiths - Bright's Grove Animal Hospital - great vet - and Grey savvy. He will make house calls if necessary. He actually spent more time at our house 2 weekends ago than his. Unfortunately we lost our 6 year Burmese cat to liver disease. Anyway, Cuz loves Rodger too.. Changed my mind - now that we have had a problem with Sal - going to take Bill's advice and go to the Blue Cross Animal Hospital in Sarnia.

We currently take Zooks to the Talbot Animal Hospital, because it's closest to us, but I'm thinking now that maybe we should switch to this Dr. Staples I've been hearing a lot about. I didn't realize that Talbot was on the expensive side, I knew it was a lot of money, but I didn't have anything to compare it do. I'll have to look into Dr. Staples and possibly bring Zooks out to see him.

In woodstock, I use the Woodstock Veterinary Clinic, they have several other greyhound patients. When I need specialized help with regards to cancer or with blood clotting disorders, I will contact Dr. Couto at Ohio State University for advice, he specializes in Oncology, hematology and greyhound medicine vet.osu.edu/GuillermoCouto.htm

Dr. St. Pierre at Waterloo West Animal Hospital, www.waterloowest.com/, is just awesome. Most greyhounds in this area (and even as far as Stratford) go to Dr. St. Pierre. She is very greyhound savvy and very open to any articles/documents relevant to greyhound care. She also does chiropractics. She even has a link for greyhound adoption on her site! She is awesome! ;D
