In Windsor, Dagny and Galt have been well cared for by Dr. Tom Branton, Baranton Animal Hospital, Tecumseh Rd. West....I wouldn't let anyone else care for them!

Can anyone recommend a vet in the Orillia area who has experience with Greyhounds? We have recently moved to this area.

Well, close, I have one in Barrie, Dr. Brian Westgarth-Taylor of the Barrie Animal Hospital on Dunlop St. West of 400 is a former grey owner, and takes care of my 4 plus at least 4 others I know of.
Ooops, I see I already put him in this thread a while ago - sorry!

Thanks, I must have missed the information on the first read through. We just adopted two greyhounds from Bill and they will be coming to our home in August.

We use Dr. Steve Wilson at Komoka-Kilworth Animal Clinic at RR#5 in Komoka. He took care of Blitzen through his cancer and his staff are terrific. Being located west of London and outside city limits, his prices are really good. He is great with dogs, though now we live in the south end of London, it will be quite a drive to see him. We may consider transfering to Dr. Staples who is SO much closer - better in an emergency.

Hi - this is a great thread!
We are new adopters and will be choosing a vet - I have heard a few grey owners at the local dog park speak highly of Dr. Kirby at the Masonville area clinic............
How would you find out if a vet is "expensive"? Are there certain standard things you could ask about prices on ? (i.e. a rabies shot, a heartworm treatment.....) and what would high or low pricing ranges be?
Thank you for any guidance you can give me! I really appreciate the help.

I would just like to remind everyone as a greyhound owner and lover and a person working in the veterinary field- be wary of price shopping. Often you get what you pay for- if the prices are significantly cheaper- where are they making their profit? Are they cutting corners? If you are looking for a new vet ask what their policy is on pain management and patient comfort is? Surprisingly not all clinics have the same standards. Ask if you can have a brief tour of the back (at a conveinent pre-arranged time of course). Does the support staff seem to like their jobs? they will be the ones do most of the handling of your beloved pet if they need to stay in hospital. In short- don't just go by the cheapest- we need to find a happy medium the best care for the most reasonable prices and it is unfortunately never a clear answer. Just my two cents Brandy and Syd
