I was crusing through the GRA available greyhounds and noticed it hasn't been updated since before the picnic (not critizing!!! I know how busy everyone is!). I was curious though how many dogs were adopted at the picnic, who is still available and if any new hounds have arrived since. Anyone know?

I know only a handful were adopted at the picnic. Bill has brought in a new lot. As of last Saturday night, 8 dogs were adopted in the kennel and there were 43 total (including the adopted ones). For anyone who knew her, Vida was adopted!

I checked last night and Dotty, Fiona, Co-cky, Valerie are all adopted as well. There were seven adopted still waiting to go home last night. I forgot to count how many dogs there were though.

Hi! I'm Greytfriend. I just joined the forum today, July 10, 2006. Tomorrow we will be going to pick up DOTTY and bring her to her FOREVER HOME!!!!! We (me, hubby, daughters ages 9 and 11) are THRILLED that DOTTY decided to adopt us!! Bit of a scare, though; DOTTY was spayed on Friday, July 7/06, and I spoke to Freddie via telephone to see how she made out. Turns out that the surgery was not as simple and care-free as usual. DOTTY had a tear in her uterus and bled a considerable amount more than is "normal" for procedures such as these. Freddie assures me that DOTTY will be fine, and that she just needed (needs?) to be kept quiet a few extra days, but of course I was a chocolate mess! Of course I'll be calling Bill after 4:00pm today in order to get his take on the situation as well (he was away for the weekend as of course you all knew already!) I feel like the new kid on the block. And I'm computer illiterate, so it will take me a while to get used to using the "emoties" and posting photos of the most beautiful greyhound ever, DOTTY! (Okay so I'm a little(!) prejudiced!! Who can blame me? Each one of us has the cutest, smartest, best skin-kids and fur-kids in the world, I'm sure!) I just wanted to let everyone know that Dotty has been adopted (that is SO not the way it happened -- we travelled to the farm with designs on Chevy, but Dotty decided that we were HER family!!! And we were more than thrilled to accomodate her wishes. She will reign supreme at our humble abode, that's for certain!!
Well, I guess this first post is too long already (as you can already tell, I am way too wordy -- I'm sure that will all change when Dotty is firmly ensconced here -- I'll be too busy having greyt fun to allow for long, rambling posts!!)
I'm looking forward to becoming "fast friends" (excuse the pun!) with all of you greyt people and dogs!
Bye for now.

I did turnout last night at 9p.m. and she even gave me a little hop and kiss. She was pretty sore and tired after her spay. They tend to bounce back pretty good. Like Freddie said, just keep her quiet for a few days (usually until the stitches come out). Chevy has been adopted too... just so you don't worry about him

congratulations on adopting Dotty. She is a beauty. I was helping Bill out for awhile with turnout and she was always the first one to catch my eye.
I know she will love her new forever home.

Congratulations to both you and Dotty! ;D I'm sure Dotty will be just fine and settle right in to her new forever home! The hardest thing will probably be trying to keep her quiet for a few days Our Katzar was recovering from a toe amputation when we adopted him and he did just fine! Bounced back in no time and now you wouldn't even know he's digitally challenged unless you you counted his toes! ;D

I agree with Jiffer that Dotty is going to be just fine. I did turnout this morning and she was bouncing around and didn't want to go back in her crate. She is such a sweetie. I'm glad she has a home finally.

Sorry, I meant to say more, but in my excitement I pressed the wrong button!! Thanks to all who congratulated us, and also to those who offered encouragement and support regarding her surgery/recovery. Regarding the "digitally-challenged Katzar -- we happen to have a very large cat with six toes on each foot -- maybe we could work something out?? Ha,ha. Dotty is even more amazing than we had hoped. Confession time: I am computer illiterate; how do I gain access to the "emoties"? Sorry for being such a dufus. I promise that I am not as bad with dogs as I am with computers!! Don't worry, Dotty will be well-taken-care-of!!! LOL to everyone and everydog!!

Sorry for my profound ignorance! I just realized that I neglected to acknowledge that Chevy was adopted, in my exuberance over the addition of Dotty to our family. Congratulations to whomever was adopted by Chevy -- he is SOOOOOO beautiful!! Those soulful eyes just melt the coldest heart! He must have known that his forever family was so close; that's why he didn't mind when Dotty took over what was supposed to be his interview with our family! Way to go, Chevy; you'll always have a special place in our hearts, because if we hadn't been attracted to your picture on the available page, we would never have ventured into that MOST DANGEROUS PLACE, the barn, and therefore would never have met our soulmate, Dotty. We will always owe a debt of gratitude to you. Love you forever, Chevy!!
