I used to be a very frequent poster but life has changed for me in the last few years. I only check this site every week or so and then usually only for a few minutes and I've never even been on the GRA FB page. I do check GT more frequently but I think it's because it has a lot more traffic the topics stay fresh. Funny enough even there it's mostly Off topic section I read though, I don't really know why that is.
It is rather sad to see the forum so quiet. I do miss the way it used to be. Such a great group of people always willing to help each other with advice or support. I've meet so many greyhound owners and dogs personally and been active in a couple play groups. Greyhound people are the best.

I agree with you Greytluck that greyhound people are the best. Thanks to the forum, it has allowed us to personalize with greyt people and their greyhounds, share in a part of their hound's life, following that beautiful life until he or she crosses the Bridge, a lifetime later. Many of my best friends, who are scattered all over southern and central Ontario, have been made through this very forum and for that I am blessed.
Pattip ... my first 4 greyhounds were also from Hinsdale Race Track in New Hampshire, of course, that track is now defunct closing in 2009. My condolences for the loss of your fur family over the years. You had mentioned that Bill had several photos of your pups? When Heather and Tisa were cleaning out a section in the barn, they came across many old photos of greyhounds. Some had names and others didn't. You could drop Tisa a message, inquiring about those photos. Since I don't have Tisa's email address, you could message Heather Main at crazyforgreys@rogers.com. Heather and Tisa see each other every day so the message will get passed on. Nice to see you here on the forum .....

Facebook is just so darn convenient for sharing, I don't post much here anymore but I do share on Facebook quite a bit! I am however always poking around in here seeing if there are any new posts!

Savannah: We miss you and your pup here and I realize that "Facebook" is easier but there are a lot of greyhound owners don't use Facebook. This website would love to hear what you and your grey are up to these days.

I prefer the board to facebook. I was slow to go over to Facebook but found there wasn't much happening here. FB is mostly photos. I miss the discussions.

Guilty. I made an effort when the FB page went up, but then found it too time consuming and stressful keeping up with every site and forum that's important to me. I even tried a "schedule" for awhile, but it was too strict and regimented, and checking everything started to become a chore. I find FB great for making light comments on pics and such, but when I want to really connect with others, or have something important to say, then it's the forum that I go to. I just wish I knew how to realistically juggle it all.

Deboosh: Glad to see that you came back for a visit to this wonderful website - you can always make "light comments and show pictures" here as we miss hearing about your hounds.

I try to make a habit of checking the forum but unfortunately it hasn't become habit yet. I can't get to the forum on my phone so for me it is easier to check FB on my phone when I have a few minutes - lately while sitting in the waiting room at the vet. I need to set a reminder in my phone.

Many thanks, gablenliza. Many a time, I've come to this forum with concerns, or to rejoice with owner's pride. People on this forum have always been so kind, supportive and helpful to me. I would hate to see the forum disappear when it is such an important resource for new and old greyhound enthusiasts, alike.

If it wasn't for this forum I'm not sure I would have gone to visit GRA in person and obviously I'm so happy I did, because Mr. Owen kissed my nose and here we are together now. But seriously - I've had dogs for 28 years, but I knew nothing about greyhounds and didn't know anyone who had one. I followed this forum fairly regularly for a few years before we got Owen, and it was clear to me that if I brought a grey home, you all had my back, and any questions I had would be answered by experts. Then when we had an "opening" in our home (due to city by-law limit) I had no hesitation to take the plunge and I'm so thankful I did. So thank you everyone.

Dear Greyandred, We are still here, I suppose we get caught up in face book which actually makes me laugh seeing as we only got internet a short 6 months ago or so... I remember well meeting you and hubby and your beautiful red setter the day you signed on the dotted line for Owen with that amazing black brindle face of his. We most definitely need to bring this forum back to life, it's where I found all of the answers to my questions, where I felt at ease when I first started out with greyhounds and where some very special, life altering friendships have developed. For the record, (yup, I'm old) I hate all this new techy stuff! M

If not for the forum, I would not have chosen GRA or gone to visit. I had researched greyhounds for a long long time before being able to get one, but if not for the forum, and being able to read about experiences, see the dogs on the forum, read about the support on the forum, and read the questions people had and the support there, going to visit one would not have happened. I had actually never seen a live greyhound until I went to GRA...and then Mamma Rio captured my heart, and well, we all know where THAT led me rofl....

Just decided to check the forum. Lots of good info here. Facebook for me is so much quicker and easier to post pics. When GRA decided to get facebook as well it was to be expected that it would take away from the forum, but there are still lots of people who enjoy that as well. We have to check both.

For health reasons, I have't been on the Forum lately - but not on Facebook either. I much prefer the Forum.
