I was just going to post the same info as troysmom .... if there isn't a vet close to you in this list, there are members of the forum who live in the Ajax area. Hopefully, they'll be able to help you out.
Meanwhile, congratulations on your new adoption and welcome to the forum. I hope you soon post photos and updates on your new hound.

You can also check out gallopinggreyhoundsplaygroup.com
They have a playgroup north of Bowmanville every Sunday - and Renee Cotton, who coordinates the group will know about vets in Whitby/Oshawa area.

Hi Keith and Valarie,
I have two names for you, one in Pickering and one in Port Perry. I have taken my Greys to both places and would strongly recommend both places.
1/ Dr. Jessica Sherwin, owner of Scugog Animal Hospital in Port Perry 15930 Old Simcoe Road, Port Perry ph (905) 985-9748
Jess has been my vet for over 25 years, and I have complete trust in her. I have followed her from practice to practice all over Durham Region, until she bought her own practice in Port Perry a few years ago. She used to practice at the next practice in Pickering that I will be recommending to you… Her care and knowledge of greyhounds is excellent, and to me, it is worth the drive to Port Perry to see her. We can get in immediately in an emergency situation, her surgery skills are impeccable, she loves the dogs…I could go on and on. The dogs are always comfortable seeing not only her, but the vet techs there is fantastic follow-up after a procedure, and we have complete faith in her. There is a reason I have been with her for so long. But I understand that it is quite a drive for you…
2/ Sheridan Veterinary Services, right across from Pickering Town Centre 1398 Kingston Road, Pickering (905) 831-1131 we saw "Dr. John" when Jessica was away
This is a fantastic vet clinic, and we cannot say enough good things about Dr. John (sorry, I don't know his last name, that is what he is known as!). One of our greyhounds, Tiana, and our little one, Kasie Lynne, both went into crisis about 3-4 years ago when Jessica was away, and it was Dr John who took us in right away. He went above and beyond to take care of the dogs, putting us in touch with an emergency clinic in Toronto that we had to take Tiana to, calling the TO clinic all night for follow-ups on Tiana, and making sure he followed up on both cases with us even after Jessica came back and took over care of both pups. Tiana is a very shy, timid greyhound, especially around men, and she allowed him to do some very invasive rectal exams on her with no problems, which speaks to how gentle he is. Again, all of our pups were very comfortable there with all of the staff. One of the vet techs owns a greyhound, so they are grey-savvy (or were when we were going there). It was a very difficult decision to leave there and follow Jessica to her new practice in Port Perry.
I hope this helps!

Congrats on the new addition to your family! We love pictures You should join us on Sundays at the Galloping Greys play group. They have an indoor horse arena for bad weather and a gorgeous run outside when it's nice. Great group of people, too! We take our boys to the Taunton Road Animal Hospital in Oshawa- trah.ca/. I know it's a little out of the way, but they really know the hounds.
