This thread is for members to recommend medical practitioners that they have worked with for their greyhound care. If you have a vet, chiropractor, or other practitioner that you'd like to recommend, please PM GRAmod with the information. A practitioner that is open to learning works great for most of us, meaning that they will actually read the Greyhound Health Packet when we give it to them, and not be adverse to consulting with greyhound experts in the States if necessary. Here's an example of a format that should work: BarrieBarrie Animal Hospital, On Dunlop just west of the 400. 705-737-1900 Website: www.barrieanimalhospital.comDr. Brian Westgarth-Taylor We have used him for surgical cases, corn removal, and check-ups. He never charges for follow-up visits for things like stitch removal, even if he wasn't the original vet. His other charges are average. He used to own a greyhound himself. His two associates both have holistic specialties (acupuncture and chiropractic). (Brian has unfortunately retired).

Tillsonburg
Ostrander Veterinary Clinic Dr Julie Boutin (519) 842-7845
I have used Julie for all three of my hounds for over two years. I would trust her to treat my skin kids if needed. She's very up to date on Greyhound info. She will answer as many questions as you have with the patience of a saint while making sure you understand her answers. She'll work with you as long as it takes to find the right solution. VERY resonable prices for top notch care!!!

Great idea for a thread! BurlingtonTansley Woods Veterinary Hospital2025 William O'Connell Boulevard, Burlington, ON L7M 4E4 Telephone : 905-331-1870 We usually have Dr. Petrowski, but the other vet is great too (forget her name.. but she spent like a half hour with Digby when we first got him, just to get to know him, before he ever came in for an appointment, cause I told her he was really shy). They tend to be pricey though. The emergency clinic is Burlington is awesome too: Burgess Veterinary Emergency Clinic1-775 Woodview Road, Burlington, ON L7N 3S1 Telephone : 905-637-8111 Free Call Email : drburgess@bvec.com Website : www.bvec.com

Queensway Veterinary Hospital Simcoe, ON Phone Number: (519) 428-2630 Emergency Number: (519) 428-2630 www.infovet.ca/qvh/showClinicInformation.do?discriminator=LOCATION_AND_HOURS&itemId=2457they were recommended to us by Christine (the Delhi Greyhound Lady) and we are very pleased with the service we receive there. My cats had been going there for 4 years and we automatically started bringing Server there. Dr. Alan Plater is a local greyhound expert and has numerous greyhound clients. he's always willing to take the time to answer the little questions we have as first time dog owners. We feel the prices are fair and he has offeres us alternatives to "expensive" bills. so far we have only used him for routine check ups and heart worm testing and a vomit induction but he seems well educated and the staff was pleasant

Dr. Staples is wonderful! He's located in London on Comissioners Road West. (Listed in the phone book under Staples Animal Hospital) We take all of our animals there (we foster for a rescue group and he takes them as well). Prices are more than reasonable and he is very patient and knowledgeable!

St. Catharines:
Hartzel Animal Hospital 133 Hartzel Rd., St. Catharines Ph: (905) 685-7349 Dr. Tracy Hobbs
I have been going to Hartzel Animal Hospital since the early 90's when I got my first greyhound. Back then, it was a learning experience for everyone but very quickly Dr. Hobbs became greyhound savy. I find her to be extremely knowledgeable and so compassionate. Having her treat my hounds is a pleasure. I would say prices are quite reasonable.

In Mississauga Avonlea Animal Hospital 3221 Derry Road W., Unit 4 Mississauga, Ontario 905-785-6966 www.avonleaanimalhospital.ca/I am very happy with the care Mayhem has gotten at this clinic, they have 7 other grey patients that I know of (that's how I found them when we moved-spoke to the other grey owners in the neighborhood about where they take their greys). They are open and happy to learn even more about the breed. I found them to be reasonably priced for check-ups and shots, looked after a horribly split paw webbing and was knowledgeable about different options for food with our grey's terrible gut. Gave me options and left the final decision to me, with the option of coming back and discussing things further if I wanted. Everyone just fawns over Mayhem from the moment we walk in.

Waterloo West was heavily recommended for the KW area, but we switched to Trussler Vetrinary after some issues with Waterloo West not calling back or following up. Trussler has been great, they were originally established for the horse stables there, and its a bit rustic and old school but they are good, thorough and friendly.
