If you have adopted a greyhound who raced in Florida, we welcome some pictures and stories about your new addition in this forum. Hopefully your greyhound's previous owner/trainer will see and respond!
If you owned or trained a racing greyhound that came up to the GRA to be adopted into a new home, please feel free to post and ask about your greyhound. Hopefully their new people will see the post and respond!
Track mates can also meet up this way, and even litter mates!
*You are not limited to posting in this forum, but this forum is limited to Florida hounds in order to make it easier for parties to find each other.
Thanks, and have fun!

Thank you for the Florida Board.
I'm Kathy with ACT Greyhound Adoptions and we are the group that sent 30 hounds to GRA in January. We would like to thank you for taking our retired hounds and finding them wonderful homes. I have been in touch with a few of the adopters but, we always like to keep in touch with everyone who adopts one of our greys. The trainers love to hear stories and see pictures of dogs they had in the kennels. Please tell us about your new addition and post pictures.
Again, thank you for finding homes for our retired greys.
Kathy

Thanks for posting Kathy, and thank you so much for all that you do for the hounds. I know things are not easy down there right now, so all your hard work is very much appreciated!

I adopted retired White/Black male racer "ARIAT" out of Dave the Dog and FFBoots who raced 59 times (actually 75 if your count the replay video pages-thanks Brandi Quinn) in Florida until 2013. He is now known as Louis (see photo avatar), residing in Ontario Canada. He is alive, well, much loved, with a multitude of soft beds to choose from and enjoying 3 walks per day every day with runs depending on the weather/footing. He is a wonderful house pet and first dog. He is drawn to meet new people and tolerates calm small animals very well. Our boy Max (aka Tahoe Nights (kennel name 'Hopkins')) raced over 160 races at Derby Lane in Florida between ~2007-2010. Over a third of those he finished in the top 3. At one point a few years ago we were able to view his races online but that link seems to have disappeared. We would love to know if there is an archive somewhere or a way to watch those races again.
As you'll see from the Ranibow Bridge thread on the forum Max lost his battle with lymphoma just weeks ago at the young age of eight. We are missing him terribly.
Max had a big personality and was goofball who seemed to draw people to him instantly. I have no doubt that he is remembered for his quirky ways. If anyone has any stories or information about Max/Hopkins/Tahoe Nights we would be forever greytful hearing from you.
