I cannot find words that express my sadness for the loss of Bella. May our humble prayers from all of us on this forum be at least answered to help you get through this horrendous ordeal and the loss of your precious girl. Run pain free sweet Bella. Heaven has a new angel.

I am so very sorry that both you and Bella had to go through this nightmare. I think it's safe to say that it's in the back of every dog owner's mind, the moment we step foot out the door. Most responsible dog owners seek professional help when they have either adopted a powerful breed, or have a dog with aggressive tendencies. But it's those owners, such as what you've run into, that we all have to worry about. They know their dog has "issues", yet they gamble and leave it to chance that nothing will happen. I as well, join the consensus and would report Bella's attack. These negligent owners, at the very least, need to be "persuaded" to seek help. I would also keep handing over all of Bella's vet bills. Accountability and a smaller bank account, just might motivate these owners to change. Best healing wishes to both you and Bella.

rubylottie14, We certainly will... there is no other breed of dog that is loved as much as our beloved greyhounds, We will never forget our Deva (Maxi Force) or our Bella (Cbar Specialist). Hopefully Bella has met up with Deva and all the other greys on the bridge to celebrate her birthday today. Just received a new collar that Danielle purchased through the auction, we will have to find another grey, as Bella would have wanted it that way. Paul, Danielle and Faith I'm so glad you will continue to be part of this forum and that you can envision having another greyhound. I have had 4 greyhounds, 3 of which have gone to the bridge. Zak was with me for 4.5 years, pts cos of kidney failure at almost 12 yrs old, Gerry for 2 yrs pts bone cancer at 7 yrs old, Ruby with me for 4 yrs, pts megaoesphagus, age 8, and Lottie who has been with me for 2.5 yrs, and is now 5 yrs old. Previous to the greyhounds I had a lurcher called Gus, my 1st dog and he was only with me for 6 months before he had to be pts cos of cancerous tumour, he was 7. All this has been over an 11.5 yr period. ETA: I wouldn't have been without any of them.

Thank you for posting those photos. I'm amazed that the large wound on her left side near her front leg/shoulder could be sewn up, I wouldn't have thought there'd have been enough skin to close the gap. I think it's important for people to have the chance to see the photographs as it will make us all aware of what can happen. I'd be beside myself if this happened to any of my greyhounds. What an awful thing for you to have to cope with. Sending you love. ETA: having now seen the injuries and knowing the attack was unprovoked I too would want the dog to be euthanised. If that dog was mine I'd have it put to sleep. Amen. My heart just breaks for you; I cried seeing those pictures of your baby girl. I hope animal control euthanizes that monster. He's a weapon, not a pet.

I am so sorry for your loss, it is heart breaking that your family had to go through this and I find it very alarming that so many others have had their greys attacked too, they are such peaceful souls. I am sure you are right that there must be another dog that needs you too, things happen for a reason. We have lost dogs over the years but never to something so senseless as this, it is horrible and I hope the owners of the other dog take ownership of what has happened and ensure it never happens again. I feel sad for the other dog as well since its owners never should have allowed that situation to even be a possibility, I imagine there are some bad dogs out there but from my experience it just seems to be bad owners creating bad dogs. Take care of each other, this must be so hard for all of you, we are thinking of you

I hope each day that passes is getting even a tiny bit easier... I just thought how strange/fateful you received the collar in the mail when you did... Perhaps a gift from Bella, letting you know she made it to the Bridge and is now able to run and play with all her new greyhound friends... Take Care.

I haven't been on the forum for a bit and was utterly shocked when I logged on just now to learn of Bella's passing.
I am so, so, sorry. There are no words and I can't even begin to fathom what you are going through.
I wish I had words that would provide some comfort but all I can say is that you are in my thoughts and I hope that in time you find solace in remembering the happier times you shared with your girl.
