My heart breaks for you all. I'll be sending some good vibes Bella's way for a positive outcome today. Wish there was more that could be done for you all. I have been telling Bella's story to everyone I know who owns a dog, some of them allow there dogs off leash in public areas. Hopefully hearing about Bella will make them reconsider that decision.

This is such a bad situation. It's not fair that Bella has to go through this. My thought are with the poor girl and yet more surgery.

Hi All, just heard from OVC, vet very french , so my parlez francais, petit pas!,What I gathered is she got through the surgery, they were not able to close up wounds completely, still have drains, but with a bandaid, poor girl, have somehow put a feeding tube on her, slow to wake..., wont feed until she is a little more alert. This is truly getting harder every day... I pray she will start feeling a little better, and hopefully she will be able to do some stairs, we only have about 5 stairs, but I was picking her up to bring her down the stairs because her front leg was so damaged, I can only pick her up were the stitches were, they told me I could use a towel, I am going to see how I am supposed to do that as well. Reported to Animal Control this morning, feel good because as she explained, if I didn't If it happens again, ( sure the heck hope not) I know I won't be going close to that area again, they will have record of it. The Animal Control thinking was similar to ours in that, if we throw the book at them now, good luck getting any cooperation for these vet bills, but if its on record then an order can be put on them in the future. Not sure when owner is to arrive, but hopefully will be in touch soon, Guelph is doing a great job, but Ally the vet thinks Bella needs to come home soon, she is so down, ( as are we!) Looking forward to a speedy recovery from the latest, and the call that tells us to pick her up. Posting a few pics from the hospital, pretty in purple! Take Care, and again, thank you all for your doggy prayers, and support, Bella surely appreciates it as do we. s1030.photobucket.com/user/pdmckirgan/library/Bella

I make and sell Support Slings and would like to give you one to help Bella. They are fully padded and much easier than a towel. I can make them any width. Please let me know if you would like one. My heart goes out to all of you. Gentle Hugs to Bella

Your family and Bella are in my thoughts every day. Such a horrible thing to happen to a sweet girl. Thank God for the expert caregivers at Guelph who perform miracles every day. Hoping she'll be well enough soon to come home to recuperate.

Well Miss Bella, you could not be @ a better clinic then where you are! I know you would rather be home, but all those Doctors and support staff are there to help you heal enough to go home...but you have to help them to help you by eating! That is very important to a speedy recovery young lady...after all, you have a birfday just around the corner and I'm sure you will be spoiled rotten! OMG those pics...my heart caught in my throat just thinking about what you are all going through Thank you for reporting this to your Animal Services, especially now w/ the knowledge this dog has attacked before. IMHO, the dog needs to be assessed along w/ his owners by a certified behaviouralist, not just a 'trainer'. Canines become products of their environments and experiences, which is why BSL will never work. A breed is banned? Well, ANY dog is capable of biting...regardless of breed. I'm sending positive thoughts your way... @ nimby earl...thank you for the chuckle after looking @ those horrible pics...I saw what I think is a mini toilet being used as a water dish?LOL

I am checking this thread several times throughout each day in hopes that things have taken a turnaround for the better. It has been such a long and grueling time for you all. I am ever so hopeful that there will be a post very soon that Bella is at home very much on the mend. Ongoing thoughts and prayers.

C'mon Bella! You've got this! How is your daughter handling things? As a kid, I would have been more than traumatized having to deal with my dog getting hurt.
