The last couple of days Froggy has been "leaking" while resting. I'll be calling the vet first thing tomorrow, but interested in knowing if any one has dealt with this before. Last Tuesday she had her sacs expressed and was prescribed Benedryl for suspected allergies. Don't know if any of that might be playing a role in this.

The anals shouldn't have had any impact. I haven't had any trouble with Benadryl, but if she's drinking more, that might cause leakage.
My vet prefers Propalin (sphincter tightener). But one of my leakers can't take it (causes diarrhea), so she's on Stilbestrol (hormones).

I had a male greyhound who was incontinent for 1.5 years til he died depsite trying all the available medical routes and surgery. The good news is that incontinence is much easier to manage medically in females.
Let us know what the vet says.

I had great results with Propalin for my female hound. We tried Stilbestrol first and it did help but the Propalin worked better.

Callie has that problem once in a while. I had a urinalysis done and nothing really abnormal came up but the vet put her an antibiotics just in case it was an infection but it didnt really do anything. Like I said, she does that "leaking while sleeping" once in a while but its not really consistent so I decided not to put her on anything yet. However the vet did suggest at one point to supplement her with some estrogen. After reading these posts, i'm happy to see that it's a common enough problem.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's good to know that it's somewhat normal. She hasn't leaked since Sunday afternoon, so hopefully it isn't a common occurance. I'll let you know what the vet says though.

Natural progesterone cream did the trick for Millie. I gave her about a 1/2 teaspoon 2 weeks of the month, rotating spots, usually under the arms/legs and on the lower belly, so that one spot didn't get saturated.

Just an update... Test results are pending, but the vet thinks it is a UTI. Poor Froggy has been hassled with allergies and her eyes are suffering for it, and now this. It's obvious that she is uncomfortable so I'll be glad when she is better.

Well, I spoke to the vet. Nothing shows in the urine sample to indicate that she has a UTI. However, her urine is diluted, so we have to measure her water intake over the next three days, and in the words of the vet " we'll take it from there".

All of our fingers are crossed here, I do hope it turns out to be nothing, just an odd result.

Here is the update... For three days we measured Froggy's water intake ( we were the weirdos at the picnic that would allow their hound drink out of any of the many bowls). She ran about 6-8 cups of water each day, which according to the vet is normal. The vet is chalking this up to the fact that Froggy can be a nervous dog. Perhaps that is the case, but my argument is that she does it while sleeping and completely calm/stress free. Plus, when Frog is stressed or distracted she doesn't "go". They will run another test but we have to collect her first pee of the day. Living in a condo this should cause some amusement for anyone that witnesses it I hear a foil pie pan is helpful for this collection. Now we will be the weirdos that pick up their dogs pee lol Wonder if we can convince people it's a new Toronto bylaw.

Don't ask me who told me this, but I've heard a dollar store soup ladle works well. Just don't tell anybody or you'll never have company for supper again. Unless you really hate cooking for company, then go for it. Take pictures as well!
