Here is the update... For three days we measured Froggy's water intake ( we were the weirdos at the picnic that would allow their hound drink out of any of the many bowls). She ran about 6-8 cups of water each day, which according to the vet is normal. The vet is chalking this up to the fact that Froggy can be a nervous dog. Perhaps that is the case, but my argument is that she does it while sleeping and completely calm/stress free. Plus, when Frog is stressed or distracted she doesn't "go". They will run another test but we have to collect her first pee of the day. Living in a condo this should cause some amusement for anyone that witnesses it I hear a foil pie pan is helpful for this collection. Now we will be the weirdos that pick up their dogs pee lol Wonder if we can convince people it's a new Toronto bylaw. Don't ask me who told me this, but I've heard a dollar store soup ladle works well. Just don't tell anybody or you'll never have company for supper again. Unless you really hate cooking for company, then go for it. Take pictures as well!Lol. Actually, that does sound like a great idea. Thanks. I would love to score a picture of my fiancée doing the collection. His reaction the first time Frog pooped still makes me laugh. Wait until we have a baby...he'll be in therapy for sure

LOL@ Midge...I was just about to post about the soup ladle trick...another plus point is not having to bend down so far to collect the pee Its also less 'invasive' to your pupper, as some more privacy seeking hounds will stop peeing as you try to collect a sample... Best of luck w/ your girlie and I hope no-one looks @ you funny if they witness your sample collecting!

I can just picture lovinfroggy outside with Froggy, tinfoil pie plate, soup ladle and container in tow. Yes, I think you are going to create quite a sensation in your neighborhood! If your neighbors give you that blank stare like "I don't know you", you'll know why!! Have fun!!!!
About the soup ladle ... I was in Wheeling Downs years ago and they were using utensils that looked like soup ladles to collect the urine from hounds that were ready to race .... they were collecting it for drug testing before a race.

Think the ladle idea is good. I've used a saucepan as having a handle is very handy. Don't think tin foil idea is good tho - might make quite a noise as the wee hits it and freak the dog out - plus you might get quite a bit of splash back. Yuk.

Just wanted to say that the ladle idea was awesome. It was very easy and Froggy had no idea I was back there. And I promise the ladle went into the garbage afterwards The sample will be dropped off tonight.

I'd really like to take credit for the ladle idea (it's so rare that I have any good ideas of my own, LOL) but it was another forum member who told me that (DorasMom). I still eat at her place.
Good luck to Froggy!

Good luck to Froggy!Lol. It was 5:30am and I had to do the collecting So no pics. It really was as great idea, so thank you for sharing. I would never have thought of it, and when I googled tips to collect, I only came across the tin pan. The test was done while we waited and again it came back diluted. Seeing that the poor thing leaked on two of her beds over night it's no surprise. Next step, blood test on Friday. The worst part of all this is that Froggy seems to know she is peeing where she shouldn't be. It's almost like she believes she is in trouble, even though we have never gotten upset with her. I just want to hug her all day in hopes of making her happy again.

Ha ha Midge you are so funny!
I had to collect first morning pee sample from my first grey (Chicky) years ago. The process was a lot easier than you think. I just used the bottle the vet gave me and when Chicky squated I simply squated down with her and tilted the bottle underneath her and voila - bottled filled in no time! Just be sure to have some paper towel & wet naps in your pocket to clean up the outside of bottle. I also brought a plastic bag along with me to place the bottle in so we could continue on our walk. Hope all goes well for Froggy!

The blood test came back and there wasn't anything to be concerned about, thank goodness. We have started her on Propalin. It will be nice to remove all the plastic in our place

So happy to hear that Froggy is doing just fine, poor girl feeling guilty for those teeny tiny accidents. Maybe now, along with her meds, she can get back to normal. Froggy .. you are such a sweet girlie.

Frog's issues have returned Wondering if any one has used Leak No More. It's suppose to be a more natural treatment for incontinence. The worst part of this is that it is very obvious that Frog is upset when it happens.

Hi, I had a beautiful girl, Rosie, (Irish Setter) years ago who had incontinence issues as well, and she was prescribed Stilbestrol and took it on and off for years. It always worked very well for her. Her issues started around age 8, she would take the meds for 5-6 months then we would stop and see what happened. She would be fine for a few months but eventually the issue always came back. She also was upset by this, and although I don't like to have my dogs on meds if possible, the stilbestrol worked very well for her. Around age 12 the issue went away completely and she was fine for her last 3 years.
