I thought I had already posted this here but a couple months ago I found a great raw supplier here in the Barrie area with a great selection of foods for the dogs. raw4dogs.ca/Just to give an example of the size of turkey necks, for my last order I ordered 10 lbs of necks, which was 18 necks. They have two locations for pickup, which is great as one of them, The Red Barn, is only 5 minutes from my house.

Thanks for the link! What's the other pickup location, out of curiosity?

Oh, wait. If I mapped their address correctly, I believe they are in Lefroy. That's easy enough to get to and better for me than Barrie.

Yes, Paul is right on Ewart street, the main drag. They have some good products!

I just picked up some raw, frozen duck necks and a couple of beef neck bones. Summer went crazy when we put the stuff in the cooler in the van. And because I guess we smelled of it, she tried coming over the seats to get at us. LOL! I think she'll be pleased!

This place looks good. Maybe in the summertime I will have to make the trip up there (I have to figure in the cost of gas to see if it is viable to to the place I get from here!).

Summer will LOVE it. Finn is like that with turkey necks. I lay an old sheet over his bed when he gets one so now when he sees me with the sheet he starts dancing and hopping around. He would knock you over and not even care to get as his turkey necks. LOL @ Redhead ... There is a place for raw in Kingston that once I get a deep freeze will be making the trip for some raw. There are some real gems out there when it comes to raw food.

Yes...The Freeman family here in Battersea (20 km north of Kingston) manufacture raw dog food. rawdogfeed.com/However...we're quite a long drive from Shelburne!!!

I have seen that place in Kingston, and would be in heaven if that was close by!! Unfortunately, adding on $100+ in gas money probably wouldn't make it feasible.
I just found a distributor for RawforPets who is directly on my route on Hwy 23 when I visit my parents. They seem a bit pricier than the links above (around $2/lb) but they have really good mixes with all kinds of things in them that I normally can't get. I just picked up 50 lbs of the 3 meat mix which the dogs do great on. With the gas factored in, it is still my cheapest option. There are meat packers in Hamilton and Newmarket who are really cheap as well.
It is nice to see these places popping up, way back when I started raw feeding there was NOTHING but the grocery store!

What are the places in Newmarket? That's not that far and we go into Toronto once in a while so I'd love a new place to check out.
The only way the drive to Kingston is worth it for me is if I can bring back about 160 lbs of food or more, which is 4 bags at $20.00 per bag. He sells in 40 lb bags at 20 bucks a bag. Doesn't get much cheaper than that. LOL
The only downside to that food is that it is a complete mixture and I have found with Finn I have to add stuff to it because the bone in every meal makes his poops hard and crumbly. So I still buy other raw to mix in as well, and a couple times a week he gets something different. But, there are a lot of people whose dogs only get that food and nothing else. A few nights a go he had spaghetti with a tin of sardines in tomato sauce mixed in. He LOVED it. ;D
There is a meatloaf recipe for dogs I'm going to try making this week as well, for something different.

I couldn't find one in Newmarket but I did locate one with a Queensville address. Looks like a mixture place with not a lot of variety. Raw4Dogs has much more choice. Here's "Red Dog": reddogfood.com/And when you do the meatloaf, is it a cooked thing? I'm hoping it is, that it works and that you share the recipe!

Thanks for the link, but I'm not seeing any prices and there is really no selection at all. That's one thing I like about Paul, he has a huge menu for your dogs. The meatloaf recipe is this one that Redhead posted over at GT. forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/283164-tasty-goodies-for-my-greys/page-2I'm going to go get the throwaway aluminum tins tomorrow and make it, so meatloaf will be his supper tomorrow night.

Thanks! I printed it and will wait for your comments, LOL! Here's another I got from somewhere. Note that I have NOT made it. It was recommended for older dogs who go off their food but, again, I've never tried it.
Meatloaf for dogs: 2 pounds lean ground beef 3 eggs 2 to 3 cups crushed dry food (I use the blender to crush it) 1 cup peanut butter
Mix it all together. Mix the beef, eggs and dog food first, then add in the peanut butter.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake in cupcake trays (the above ingredients make a total of 24) if you want individual servings, or else use meatloaf pans (be sure to first coat with non-stick cooking spray, I use the alcohol-free variety). Optional: Top with a spoonful of crushed dog food if you have some left over. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
Once cooled, leftovers can be frozen to take out as needed

That one would be good if you feed kibble, for something different. I have no kibble in the house. LOL I'll let you know how the meatloaf is tomorrow.

The meatloaf that I sometimes make is from Dogs We Love in Orangeville (I think they now have a store in Collingwood). They make it fresh in the store, or for a cheaper price you can buy the dry mix and add the wet. www.dogswelove.comNote: The recipe I posted does NOT contain all of the ingredients in the store mix just because they add a ton of different flours and supplements to make it a complete food. I am assuming that just using your own flours would make the same consistency (you may want to make a small batch to test ;D ) The place in Newmarket is King Capon Poultry. A lot of raw people go there as they sell bulk poultry frames or ground for around 50 cents a pound. I am more in need of boneless red meat/organs so I don't bother. Not sure if you are on the CanadianRawPetSupply yahoo group, but if you go there and look under the files or do a search for your area you can sometimes find things. pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanadianRawPetSupply/?yguid=410442147
