I am still waiting on the details, but Server passes away on April 17th 2014.
I adopted him from Bill when he was three years old. He will always be my heart dog. My then boyfriend and I went to the kennel, just to look. I'm sure you all know how that ended. I remember having my heart set on a small fawn female but when the kennel doors opened I was drawn to the big red brindle fellow. He came home a week later. I still remember the drive home with Server in the back. I looked over his info for the first time ... we shared a birthday and his former owner had the same name as my current boss. It felt like we were meant for each other.
Server adjusted quickly to home life but house training took a bit longer and he never did master stairs. He got along with the cats after just one run in with a very angry and cornered kitty. He got tested and passed the St. Johns therapy paws tests a year after coming home. Server would best be described as a proper British gentleman. Never one to demand attention, always very graceful and even tempered, never one to start stuff with the cats or his greyhound brother Gordie. He was a dignified fellow.
Eventually things ended between his dad and me but they were so bonded that I couldn't break them up. Server Lived with his daddy for several years and even got a little human sister last year.
Even though he spent more time away from me then with me I always kept up to date on his well being. He will be missed.

Another beautiful star will be shining to-night - Server's gentle soul has risen high. What a wonderful tribute to a true "gentleman" Server who stole your heart at the kennel. He showed you what love is as he left a piece of his heart with you and he missed you as much as you missed him. It breaks our hearts to say good-bye but you know that he is happy free from any pain and running with all his new friends at the bridge. Rest in peace Sweet Server.

I'm very sorry to hear about Server. Your obvious love for him is evident by letting him go to live with his dad. He will never forget that and is telling our other bridge angels how great his human mom is. R.I.P. Server.

I am so sorry to read about your sweet boy Server. I too remember reading all about Server a few years ago. Even though he became your heart dog, you let him go with his Daddy because you knew how much Server had also bonded with him ... that is unconditional love on your part. Just know that your "proper British gentleman" will be with you in spirit forever.
Godspeed sweet boy Server .....

Even though he did not live with you lately, you have painted a lovely picture of your sweet boy. You showed him so much love by letting him go with the ex, I am sure he had had a wonderful life which you helped him accomplish.
He will be forever in your heart and soul because you keep his memories so fresh in your mind. Bless you Server
