Over the past few weeks, I've noticed Renny's pink skin has all darkened, first on his hind legs, now on his belly and underside of his neck. Is this usual?

I'm no expert but many of my guys have changed colour, both with skin and fur just simply from being outside so much. You've been pretty busy with Remy lately so perhaps it's because of that. I would like to bet it's nothing to worry about. Keep enjoying, Martha

I was thinking it might just be a "tan" ! Good to know it's not just him!! He has been out a lot lately

renegade ... the skin on my three hounds has also changed color (from light to dark), especially noticeable on the white hounds. I attribute it to the sunshine and being outside more without coats now that the weather has changed for the better (well at least up until yesterday).

Froggy's pink belly goes nearly black once the sun starts shining.

Yup, the fawn dogs are exceptionally good at getting that darker "tan" in the warmer months. Some even keep it year round, depending on how much time they spend outside. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Eva, I would think Meadow's skin will stay on the darker side! either way, she's a beauty! M

Eva, I have found my hounds have stayed more on the dark side during the winter months too. It may lighten a little but probably not by much. My Johnny's (who also is a red hound) tummy is dark just like Meadow's tummy.

Michel's tummy and inner thighs have done the same thing and now they stay dark all year around. Isobel, our Whippet, is mostly white with a few Brindle patches and one eye. She has started developing little dark spots on her skin all over -- again I'm pretty sure it is just from the sun.
Pat.
