now I wonder how many opened this thread with the thought that I was shooting potatoes at Abby... Don't worry, I wasn't
My husband has this gun he created out of plumbing pipe and a barbeque lighter. Its purpose is to shoot potatoes through the air. You shove potatoes into the barrel and pour hairspray into the base. You then click the barbeque lighter and out comes the potato at amazing speed.
This gun lives at my mother-in-laws... I dont want it here. We were there for thanksgiving and had it out.. ok, my husband had it out with my brother-in-law and I was making sure no one died. Abby was in her outside kennel that my mother-in-law has (nice little run with a heated house.. Abby loves it). I wasn't sure how she would like the noise, until I looked over and there she was standing at complete attention waiting for the gate to open and the bunny to come... she was ready to run. I had to laugh, her ears were straight in the air, she had that big grin she gets when she knows she can run, and not to mention that my sister-in-law's golden retriever was outside and Abby loves to play with her... I guess the instinct to run at the sound of a gun never leaves these dogs.. I wonder if this is why during a loud thunderstorm, Abby is ready to run...

So...this gun...um, what's the actual purpose of it other than to shoot potatoes through the air??? LOL.
I think Kiki missed his "I'm supposed to run to the sound of a gun" because we actually have been caught walking in thunderstorms and he's totally unflappable. And...we've actually heard gun shots from home and nada! nothing! no running!
Sounds like Abby had a fun time though!

We were out in Keswick yesterday and there is alot of hunting going on out there. Hope was going nuts, running back and forth, and bouncing around. Hotwire just stood there looking at her like she was insane. (It is usually Hope thinking Hotwire is nuts).

Yup, that crack gets em riled up every time. Ren and I are paintballers... and all we need to do is dry fire (cleaning it out after a game) and the dogs go nuts.
I was taught how to make a Potato Gun way back in high school. They have no other purpose other than to shoot potatoes out of them. At least, I have yet to find a use for them. LOL
