Dotty chews her nails -- her dew claws, to be exact!! I keep them trimmed to a proper length (according to all the literature I keep reading -- including the Fall edition of CG Magazine --Celebrating Greyhounds, which has a greyt article including photos showing proper length versus too long). She also "snaps" her jaws together to get my attention. It sounds like a bone-rattling "chunk" -- it would give me a headache, if I slammed my teeth shut together like that, with such force. Anybody else out their experience such things with their greys? She smashed me in the face the other day with her snout/muzzle. I was wearing glasses at the time, and the wire frame did a number on my nose. Her expressions of affection are getting more and more boisterous, now that she is more settled in and feeling at home. She is so funny and demanding -- such a Diva!! For example, if I am sitting on the couch with her and watching TV, she will bark sharply and loudly, just once, to get my attention back to her and away from the screen!! Heaven forbid that my focus should waiver from Her Royal Heiny! I love her so much -- every day is a new adventure, a new discovery of a facet of her personality. She is quite a character!! I am so thankful to Bill for providing the services he does, so we can reap the benefits of his hard work!!

hi greytfriend! - i totally know what you mean about every day being a new adventure and discovery! - don't you just love it?! - but about the teeth snapping - my one grey - rainy - "chatters" his teeth - most often as he's waiting for his leash to be put on - this has just started recently and i'm not sure if it is related to his having 13 teeth pulled a few weeks ago - but all i know is that he didn't do it before and now he does! -

Abby will also smash me in the face with her snout too when she gets really excited. She loves to nip at me too for some reason. Tigger just bows and barks when he gets excited. He's in the habit now that after his walks he barks when we get back inside. I haven't experienced the nail chewing, although nail chewing might be better then the furnature chewing or the wall chewing (the two of them have chewed the corner of our kitchen wall, all the way down to the metal supports under the drywall).

hello, I also have a nail biter. Greely likes to bite his dew claws and I have always kept the nails at a good length. He started after the vet had to remove a small sliver of glass out of one of his pads. At least thats what I think because that happened shortly after I adopted him and I didn't see him do that before. He's also not biting them as much anymore so maybe he'll grow out of doing that. Willow and Greely are also a new adventure everyday, I love it.
