My 8 year old girl... she keeps me on my toes.
She would give the Tazmanian Devil a good run for his money.
When I get home from work, she brings me one of her many, many "babies" then runs to the living room and does a dozen circles. She'll jump onto the couch, off the couch, onto the couch, off the couch (often while Icarus and Atlas are occupying the couch). Finally, when I pet her, she will swing her backside towards me with such force that she'll nearly knock me backwards. While I'm scratching her, she'll do "the dance". You know that funny thing they do when you scritch their bums and they basically hop from foot to foot while arching their backs. I will tell her "Poof; time to move" which in her mind means, switch to the other side, so she'll flip around and whap me again. Did I mention she still has that dang baby in her mouth during this?
When I finally escape her grasp. I will go pet the boys and often sit on the floor on one of the dog beds. Echo figures this is greyt, I can stick my head on mommy's chest and she'll pet me some more. So slobbery baby gets dropped on my lap in lieu of pets. When she's done getting pets, she then pounces on baby (in my lap) and bites at it. So I throw it, to save the skin on my legs and stomach. She runs, pounces on it, grabs it in her mouth and brings it back to me. I throw it for her a few more times.
Then it gets interesting! I go to the basement where our "living room/rec. room" is to watch a bit of TV before Rene gets home. It's quite open concept. She follows me down, baby in Tow. Orion usually follows too. As soon as she gets down there, she does circles around the room. Jumps up on the sectional, flies to the other side, turns around, flies back to her original landing point and repeats this about three times. Then she'll run over to me, drop baby and jump up. Using those two pointy feet of hers, she will shove me/bounce off of me, then get down in a play bow. She woofs at me, then does another lap or two around the room. Bounces off me again, then another lap. By now Orion is getting all worked up so he has started a chorus of barks at her, mostly because she's ignoring him. She will sass him once in a while, sticking her butt out towards him or pushing him out of the way.
Meanwhile, Icarus and Atlas are upstairs on the couch wondering what the heck we are doing. Lazy boys.
Yup, this is all in the 30 minutes after I get home from work... five days a week!
Love is...
