I'm sure this question has been asked before but...
WHat, if any, are the differences between female and male greyhounds (other than the obvious)? Are females more aloof? Are males more affectionate? Do females try to be more dominant? Etc, etc.
I am thinking of adopting another hound in the future. My boy seems to really like female dogs, as in he seems to prefer their company and is more willing to put up with their silliness.

I have always found that female dogs are more independent and aloof than males. Males just seem to want to please you more than a female dog. I'm not talking strictly greyhounds just dog in general.

That's interesting re male dogs wanting to please more.
I've been told that girl and girl not always a good mix and better to have one girl and one boy.

I think it just depends on the dogs. I've had 3 males now and all very different. I personally seem to prefer males as I find them more affectionate, it appears to be the case with my cats as well. But then my Mary was a sweet heart, so really I loved them all no matter the sex.
Trip 2011, I think you should just take your boy to the barn, take few for a walk of either sex and you will know by your boys reaction who he likes.
Good luck with your new addition. How exciting for you!

with 3 girls and 2 boys here, we have found that it depends on the pup. All of ours are very affectionate, to us and each other, with the exception of maybe Willy who would really prefer to not have his brother Merlin in the house at all (but I really think that is because he does not want to share my affections with any other dogs, especially another male dog). We will often see the pups kissing each other, "hitting" (nibbling) each other (which is a signs of affection, and snuggling. When one is hurt or sick, they are very concerned for the hurt one, so our pack is very very close.
I agree with troysmum, if you are thinking of adding another pup, take yours to the barn, and let him pick who he likes...good luck!
