Funny, I also got asked the exact same question from another dog owner. I can see if I had one of the black and white speckled hounds, but Teague is red. I really thought everyone (even non-dog people) knew what a Dalmatian looked like, but I guess not!

I've had that happen too. Three brindles (one black) and a red-fawn. I thought perhaps the guy thought that since there were so many of them (101?)...

It kind of boggles the mind. Especially coming from another "dog" person.

I've also been asked, more than once if my greyhounds were whippets, but that's a lot more understandable.

We get Geat Dane a lot also, and then there was a Dane at the dog park and Sherlock looked like a puppy next to him!

Dalmations? LOL...I do get asked quite often what kind of mix Wyn is, though I have also gotten guesses of Whippet and Great Dane. The funniest, however, was when someone very seriously asked me if she was "1 of them dachshunds"...funnier still is that they pronounced the word dachshund perfectly. When I replied that she was a greyhound, he said that was what he meant to say...
