Well, I have never properly introduced my girl, Gigi, though I've posted a few things and a couple of photos. I decided that I would post something about her for her 6th birthday, which was last Saturday, ran out of time and have been busy ever since. But better late than never I guess...
We adopted Gigi about 2 1/2 years ago. I was researching adopting a retired greyhound and ran eventually across the GRA site. I saw a photo of U Too Wise Angel (now Gigi) on the site and just had one of those strange feelings that she was the dog for us. We went to GRA at the end of January 2005 and walked into the barn - spotted her in the back corner and asked to see her. She came out with us and got in the back seat of the car. And that was that. Including filling out the paperwork, it was probably a 15 minute visit.
My husband had never owned a dog in his life - and wasn't too sure about this whole thing. Of course she has completely won him over. And what I originally felt was true...Gigi was the perfect dog for us. She has NEVER done one thing wrong since the day we got her. She has fit in like she was born here. We wouldn't trade her for anything. She has learned intuitively what is and isn't the right thing to do. She is the perfect lady, except that she has a very quirky sense of humour...For example, two of the grandkids came over one day and were so excited to see us and show us their new stuffed animals. They were squealing and bouncing around and Gigi was in the middle of everyone in the entryway to see what was going on while the kids pulled stuffed animals out of their backpacks. Gigi suddenly took off into the den and I thought maybe the kids were too rowdy for her, but a second later she came running back in, neck stretched out and head held high, Shrek donkey in her mouth, straight back into the circle of people to show off HER stuffed animal!
Here are a few of my favourite pictures of her...
