My name is Andrea and I'm from Winnipeg . I adopted my first Grey from Bill and Freddie 5 years ago , her name is Jeanie and she just turned 9 this summer . I also have a boy named Chance who was adopted from a greyhound breeder when he was 11 months old . He is now 6 . Chance has never raced due to an injury he had . I got the chance to go to Bill and Freddies place last year when I was in Toronto for holidays . It was the highlight of my trip to see Bill and Freddie and see where my Jeanie had come from and of course I fell in love with all the hounds there especially Checkers he was so cute . When I walked up to his crate he had gathered all his blankets in his mouth and had them hanging out both sides of his mouth .

Hi Andrea,
We also remember Checker - especially his bunny-soft fur! We live in London now, but I'm originally from Winnipeg (parents are still there). While living there, I can't remember ever seeing a greyhound in person. You must get alot of attention when you walk your pups. What part of the city are you in?

We live in St.James . Up until last year there were about 50 Greyhounds in Winnipeg I schedule our weekly fun run so I have a list of those people and dogs . A new adoption group started in town last fall and it has brought in at least 50 dogs . That's a whole other story . So now there are at least 100 Greys in the city .

Wow. 100 greys in Wpg! I gather from your post that this new adoption group may not be a welcome thing... Hopefully, so long as all the dogs all placed into good loving homes... Anyway, I grew up in Ft. Richmond and my parents currently live in the Lindenwoods area. I'm not all that familiar with St. James (except all the shopping days at Polo Park) !! We might be back for xmas this year. I realize how busy the holiday time is for most, but it'd be nice to meet (at least by phone?). Send me a PM if you'd be interested. I'd love to meet your pups/family and see how greys fare in the real "great white north". Again, welcome to the forum and take care, Shelley
