Raven doesn't sit. She stands, lies down, and flops over on her side. That's about it. So when we introduced her to the "sit" in last week's first training class, my bf and I did not have high expectations. We practiced all week, and she finally did it with a little help, but would quickly slide from the sit into a down lol. Then, this morning as we got ready for our walk, I grabbed a small bag of treats and turned to find her SITTING behind me, her eyes darting between me and the treats! I never thought I could be so excited to see a dog sit lol

Congrats! We've had Velvet for about 4 years, and she still has yet to sit! Scarlette figured it out the first session

Raven is really doing well. You must be so proud of her now that she has accomplished her "sit". What's next on the menu??

That is great news. You have given me motivation to try to get Scully to sit. We have tried for a year and it's a no go. Your girl is really a smart cookie to get it so quickly,
Way to go Raven!

Next up is to try and get her to do it on command every time...consistency isn't her strong point so far lol. We hadn't thought of using cheese though...we'll have to try that! I'll try and get a pic of her the next time she does it

To all trying to teach the "SIT and Down" to their greyhounds, check out Never say Never Greyhound Blog. I was having NO Luck, until I tried her advice.

Yes, we did it the way that the Never Say Never greyhounds blog describes. Did you try teaching it to her on a hill as the blog suggests? Raven also kept backing up when we first tried it, but doing it on a slope helped. When training indoors, we would try to keep one hand on her bum and the other luring her with the treat. It also helped a lot to find a treat that she really likes...she's not super food motivated so she would quickly lose interest in the luring thing until we found a treat that she really loves. It's still a work in progress with Raven though lol. Good luck greysrbeauties! I'm sure Charles will start to get it soon!
