;DHi everyone- we never introduced ourselves. we adopted Sly Sy from Bill and Freddie on April 23rd. So far he has been doing absolutely wonderfully and the kids love him. We live in Toronto, just south of Eglinton. Other than Sy, we have an 11-year old daughter and a 7-year old son. Sy is our first dog as a family - as my daughter says, she's been waiting 11 years to get a dog - and he has fit into our lifestyle really, really well and you couldn't offer us a million dollars to give him up! So happy we decided to adopt him. We've met another couple in the area who also adopted from Bill and Freddie. It would be nice to get together with other grey families sometime in the summer. Anyone else in Toronto? How do I post a photo?

I'm a Londoner, but we have a very dog friendly abode if you're ever this way. Sy sounds like such a dream boy! So good to hear!

Hi Alice - Just looked at Gigi's racing stats and guess what....both our babies won on the same day, July 1st 2004! Just another cool thing about adopting a retired racer. Looking forward to meeting you guys one day. Have you found an enclosed leash free park in town? Hi Jenn - We are at Bayview/Eglinton every Thursday - son does Kumon there. Small world. Lisa (Sy's mom)

Hi Lisa & Jenn, Ok - I just looked at Sly Ly's racing page, and boy, did he ever have a career! And, he's gorgeous! Which one is yours, Jenn? We take Gig to run at Lakeside Park (Lakeshore Rd. between Southdown Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd.) in Mississauga every weekend (weather permitting). It would be nice if we could meet up one of these days since I'm sure that Gigi would love to see another greyhound again. Alice

We're also in Toronto in the Yonge and Finch neighbourhood, and would love to meet up with other grey owners and greyhounds for a walk, or a playdate at a park!! We have two big boys that could use some fast friends to run with!!

Hi,
Lisa I saw your message, and thought I would respond and introduce ourselves at the same time.
Introduction: My partner, Brendan and I adopted Nitro Joseywales from GraCanada in September of this year, and he's been a great addition to our household. We had a little trouble with my parents' cats at first, but after a run-in with the nastiest one, Josey now has great respect. In fact, if there is a toy and a cat in the same room, he'll go after the toy everytime.
We also had some trouble with separation anxiety, and that hasn't quite worked itself out yet, but it's getting much better.
All in all, adopting Josey has been such a great experience, I can't imagine life without a greyhound anymore.
We were especially excited when we were out for a walk and met Lisa and Sy and the rest of the family.
Lisa,
We would love to get together for a walk sometime. Josey has been having some digestive problems over the past couple of weeks, so we've been a little out of commission. We did walk past your house one night, but decided it was too late to see if you wanted to join us. Since we met you, I've also met another new greyhound in the area, Arlie, and her mom, Mary. Maybe we can all hook up at some point for a walk.

Where is the park? I teach, so things will be crazy from now until the end of June, but some summer meetings in the park would be great!

HI Alana -
I read your posting on Josey's digestive issues. I hope he feels better very soon.
Please do knock on the door anytime (assuming we are home) we will love to go for a walk together. Maybe we can coordinate a time at Davisville (June Rowlands) park/Mt Pleasant cemetary for the pups.
Send me a PM and let's go from there.
Multiplicity- We would love to meet other owners and pups as well. Give us the time, place & directions and we will try to be there. 20 greyhounds running around sounds like a lot of fun.
I would love it if we could arrange a summer get together in the GTA.

Alana The name of our play group is WAGG (Waterloo Area Greyhound Group). www.waggroup.com/If you click on Activities in the menu at the top there is a map to the park. We are still on winter schedule which means we meet at or around 9:00 am...during baseball season we have to meet earlier (8:00 am or so) Hope to see you there sometime
