Froggy and I were napping on the couch today when a set of blinds came crashing down. One of the brackets broke, and the sound was frightening no doubt. It certainly scared the bejeebes out of me. Froggy took off down the hall to the bedroom. My other half went to make sure she was ok, but she was trembling severely, and it progressed into heavy panting and more trembling. She wouldn't come back into the main living area no matter the coaxing or treats. We even tried acting normal, but that just resulted in her at the door wanting to leave. Luckily, my parents live in the same condo building so we took her for a visit. It took her a while to relax there, but after having lunch with my parents ( yay for that lol) she was settled. She was fearful when we returned to our place for a bit, but after some time she has settled again. It was awful seeing her that terrified. Poor thing. Thank goodness we were home when it happened.

Suli is scared of just about everything. Especially if it moves, even more so if it makes noise while moving. It took her 4 days to be mildly ok with some flowers I had bought for Jenn. Sometimes it takes her a bit to get over things. She usually does. But ya, sounds like you handled it well. Act normal and take her for a quick walk to distract

I can only imagine how both of you were so suddenly startled by the noise. But you did the right thing by distracting Froggy and taking her to your parents' home. She will get over her scare much easier then if you had of cuddled her, etc. which would only be reinforcing or rewarding her actions to the unexpected noise.

You handled that one really well. Distraction is a great thing with kids and dogs.....
