Hi everyone, I'm Lora from the MGWC in Birmingham, AL. I have been working with the Crazy Greyhound Ladies since I adopted my first Greyhound, Sunny Beast (CTW Season's Pass) over the summer. I originally came up to the adoption center to adopt a little fawn female, but we ended up coming home with a brindle beast. Jenn warned us that we would be back for another hound, and yup, she was right. My husband, Joe, and I were back up there to adopt a little black girl to name "Cher" (you know, you have to have a Cher when you have a Sonny!). Instead, Jenn asked if I would consider a Dusty. What's a Dusty?? Well, I was introduced to one! Big Boy Dusty came to the MGWC over a year ago as a rescue. He was in really terrible shape, after being turned into the adoption center from an owner who could no longer properly care for him. He took quite a while to get back up to proper weight. He was adopted out prior to us getting him, but it didn't work out. When we met him, it was love at first sight for all of us. Sunny ends up being the "fun police", and Dust Bunny is the playful old man. I was told about this forum, and I enjoy chatting with fellow Greyhound owners, so this should be fun!

Welcome to the forum Lora. How greyt that you adopted Dusty! I saw the other post and watched the video about James Michael. So sweet! I have no doubt that he will find his perfect forever home here in Ontario. Hopefully you can follow his retirement and even come see him again

Hi Lora ... welcome to the GRA forum. Jenn and Mel are two fantastic crazy ladies, always enjoy their company when they come this way and love to tease Mel about her crazy accent. Hmmm, I guess you have that same accent too, huh??
I hope all turns out well for James Michael in finding his Forever Home in Ontario and that you'll be able to follow his progress as he adapts to his new life.

Hi Lora and Welcome. So many of us have houndies that travelled to Canada with Jen and Mel. A year and a half ago we adopted TNJ Rain who was only off the track one month before she was in our home. Our old broodie, Sunny (Cajun Blond) just loves her and they have such fun racing each other and stealing each other's toys.

Hi Lora, I wanted to give you an update on James Micheal, now called Lanny. He is doing great, he loves to play with his new Lab sister Cedar and he is and absolute sweet heart, he is still not so sure of the kids when they get excited but he has been in our home for over 7 weeks now and is fitting in well. He likes sniffing the noses of the 2 bottle fed lambs we have right now and he didn't mind when our barn cat Moe rubbed against his legs yesterday he just sniffed him and let him keep rubbing on him. He loves to run in the field and we are finding out just how much a wagging greyhound tail can hurt, it hurts and yet I can't wipe the smile of my face when he is wagging it, I love that his playful side is showing more each day, also loving his goofy way of sticking his tongue out! We absolutley love him and I would love to hear about his past. He is good on a leash even when Cedar walks right under him and we get all tangled up! I'm sorry you couldn't have adopted him, I am sure it was excruciating to let him go, but we are very glad he has ended up in our home, we love him dearly, thanks for letting us have the opportunity to adopt him.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the houndies. What fun you will have!
I have a CTW too. CTW Handcrafted. We call her Crafty because - well - she is extremely Crafty.
