Even though this Meet and Greet had to be cancelled ... I am wondering if anyone is willing to bring their pups and walk around beautiful St.Marys on July 14th meeting at about 10 -10:30 am to pass out information and show off their babies. I thought then we could all have a picnic lunch together. If you are able to come please let me know by Wed. July 11th/07 as I am working on a treat for those who do and I need to know how much/many I will need. Thank you so much, Tara and Tyson

You've started already. When we organize a Meet n' Greet, we contact those who'd like to participate. Then decide how you'd like to have it as a fundraiser (BBQ, wares, etc). It doesn't have to be anything fancy.. the dogs do a good job of bringing people in

Sounds like you've got the ball rolling!
The GRA site has a few things you can download and make copies of to hand out; we try to keep it simple as far as paperwork goes. You might want to approach one of your local collar makers to see if they might bring some of their collars to sell, but we don't usually set a whole lot, as Jen says, the dogs are the stars. Get ready to talk a whole lot, make sure you have some space for the dogs to rest when they've had enough, too. Shade is important for them.
When we do our Meet n Greets, at least one person always asks me if Bailey/Lou/Romi is available for adoption rofl.

That right now is my question ... finding a place that is pooch friendly (shade, water ect. available). I love to bake (and maybe some of you do too? ) so could I have a bake sale with it to raise money for GRA? And if anyone has a cookie recipe for good dog bicuits could maybe do some of them too. Better not get them mixed up LOL. As for paper work a hand out from GRA (already have it from web site) and a page on greys in general(history of breed kind of stuff) was what I was thinking. I love to talk about greys ... seems everyday I get stopped by someone. Older people seem to love them, they will walk blocks to stop and talk to me. I had an elderly lady leave a coffee shop with friends and walk about a block so she could pet Ty and then went back to her friends at the coffee shop. They are such ambassadors, that is just one of the many things I love about them. Tara

The actual date is Saturday July 14th/07. Anyone who is able to help with baking, bringing their ambassador dogs or anything thing else that is needed. could contact me via pm or e-mail. I have it narrowed down to 3 spots in town all are big, grass covered, with trees for shade (hubby and I will try and decide today). They are all town property so I will have to contact the town about the use of them. I also want to make flyers announcing it and where it will be to put up around town. thanks in advance, Tara

So the Meet and greet plans are in motion. I have decided on a place(unless the town forbids it) the date is July 14th, the time I am hoping will be from 10:00am - 4 or 5 pm. ??. We will be having a bake sale as well. I am also in the process of trying to arrange some "Adopt a Greyhound" rubber bracelets (thanks House of Earl). So here is what I would like to get some help with. 1) ambassador dogs 2) baking 3) people who want to talk to people about greys (that would be everybody LOL) 4) anyone who has collars, cookies or other wears to sell on the bake sale table. If you could volunteer that would be wonderful. I am hoping this will be a greyt day and we will be able to get the word out there about how terrific these dogs are and help Bill help the hounds. Thanks in Advance, Tara P.S. You don't have to be there all day any time you can spare would be wonderful.

Thank you to all who have offered to help so far (there are still many things I can use help with). I am now in the process of making a pamphlet to hand out about GRA and grey ownership in general. I also would like to include a section with grey owner friendly web sites ... like forums, merchandise, health ect ... if you have a favorite please let me know. nimbylearl (Liz) Can I put in House of Earl and Hugs for Hound on the pamphlet? I also would like to make a "book" (probably a binder for now) of the wonderful stories about adoption, funny things they do and wonderful tributes to those who are now running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Someday maybe this can be spiral bound book that can go to adoption groups to help promote adoption so new/prespective adopters will begin to understand the amount this breed touches the soul of the owner and changes their life forever. Thanks, Tara

Well for all those that volunteered thank you so much. But it appears due to bureaucratic redtape we will be unable to hold it. However if there is anyone interested in walking around and through St.Marys with their dogs to hand out info that Saturday I would appreciate the help. For anyone interested I then thought we could have lunch/supper (lupper) together at a very small shaded put pretty unused park, let the dogs cool off then maybe make another pass through town. If you are interested let me know. I will be passing out info that day if no one else is so the more the merrier. THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL THOSE THAT TRIED TO HELP! Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused. Tara

We'll be there with at least 4 of our guys. Depending on how Nauti is feeling, we may leave him and somebody else home to keep him company.
