Hi there everyone in the Toronto area! We take Gigi to the Lakeside Park (Lakeshore Rd. between Southdown Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd.) in Mississauga every weekend. It’s kind of far for some of you, but we’re going to take Gigi there this coming Sunday at 9:30-10:00 (weather permitting). And it would be nice to meet up with other greyhounds & owners. We have kind of settled in to this particular dog park because it is basically an open field where the dogs can really run. We haven’t seen any aggressive dogs at this particular park either. Also, as an added bonus for sighthound lovers, there’s a gorgeous Borzoi who is usually there at this time of day. Alice

Sounds awesome! I take it the park is fully fenced? I will be there with Kiki and Taylor.

Good morning! I used to take Gigi to Totoredaca, and there is another greyhound owner who takes his greys there, but Gigi had some problems with several rather aggressive dogs there on more than one occasion so we started taking her to Lakeside Park. Totoredaca is a beautiful park, but it doesn't have as much running room either, and it's usually much more crowded than Lakeside. (And yes, it is fully fenced and double gated.)This is just my personal opinion. Alice

How is the footing? I stopped taking Betsy to Lakeside when I discovered several deep holes that could prove extremely dangerous to a greyhound.
Another option--smaller and quieter--is Kingsford Park, an Oakville offleash near the corner of Ford Drive and Kingsway, just south of the QEW.

I know what you mean about the holes at Lakeside. Some of the dogs seem to dig there, but they've usually all been filled in. We'll definitely have to try Kingsford Park one of these days. Thanks. Alice

Maybe we should hit all the leash free parks for people in different parts of the City. There's another one I believe in Etobicoke off Eglinton West somewhere....I'll have to go check again but it was a nice size and flat and not overly busy which I liked. A semi-regular outing might be fun for the GTA hounds
