Hello,
This is my first time writing on the boards, I have read them many times - so time to join in.
In December we got Peanut (F - 2yrs) & Emma (F-3yrs), as everyone else has noted we have had our adjustments but they are both doing great.
Last week I decided to change them to a raw diet, the kibble was giving them gas, too much coming out (if you know what I mean) and Emma was eating her stools, so I thougth Raw would be the way. So far so good, however, I have just noticed they are starting to eat the grass, so this something 'normal' or should I be concerned - from some websites they say that are eating to help their stomach, or they are missing something need more veg in their diet. They are currently on MDF chicken which was a balace of veg, meat and bones in it.
Any insight would be appreciated. This will not be my last posting, -promise. Thanks

Summer "eats salad" and she's kibble fed. I don't think kibble vs raw has anything to do with it. I do find, from talking with other grey owners who have dogs who nibble at grass... that they don't seem to be eating it to cause vomiting, like other breeds do. Nor do they seem to poop it out as recognizable grass. And Summer is very particular about which grass should be consumed, not any old grass will do. I wouldn't worry about it.

Congratulations on Peanut and Emma! My guys both eat grass and I think because there are fresh new roots they are really going at it right now. They did this on kibble and raw. Most of the time they keep it down!

Teague eats raw and he has always eaten grass, even right after I adopted him (when he was on kibble). So...I don't think it is necessarily a diet related thing, I think a lot of greys just like grass. Teague has just started eating it now that some has grown in. It doesn't seem to make him sick, he just loves eating it.

All 3 of my greys and little Winston eat the wide bladed tall grass that grows up at the school along the brick wall. That's the only grass they eat and it stays down.

We have 2 "goats" also. They're more interested in grazing now than running and it was like this last year too. It must be some sort of Spring Tonic and they keep it down quite happily.

I thinks raw food diet is more effective for the pets health that's why I mostly provide raw foods diet to my dogs. I provide the raw meat, fried chicken, milk, home made biscuit etc.

Congratulations on your girls! We adopted our Bonnie last December, too. She is also a big grass eater. About once a week she will skip a meal and only eat grass, but it's got to be the very long, thick blades, like you'd see in a field. She has only thrown it up once and seems to digest it easily enough, so I'm not too concerned. I had to put my house plants out of reach last winter because she'd nibble at them otherwise, and I know there are some that are poisonous to pets. Welcome to the board; it's a great little community!

When we take Froggy to the cottage she mows the lawn for us She is pretty particular about which grass she will eat, and has never regurgitate it. Welcome to the forum!

Dutch is on raw as well, and eats grass all the time, he's never thrown up from it though. I read a lot about it and it doesn't seem to be an issue =)

Our two girls are fed kibble raw added but they still love their grass. Sunny especially has a choice patch she heads for when out for the daily "run". Rain just nibbles "here and there". Neither have any problem digesting it.
