With the mild weather the past few days a good chunk of the snow has melted & Chicky is thoroughly happy to feel grass between her toes again. She had a ball at the horse farm today - scratching the grass after doing her business, tearing around the paddocks getting mud all over her legs & belly. She really wore herself out and has been sleeping like a log for the past 2 hours. We're in the same room so I've been observing her "dreaming". She must have been on the hunt as her nose was going like crazy for a bit as if she was smelling something delectable, then her legs were twitching and moving as if she was running and then she was moving her tongue back & forth as if she was having a big drink. She looked so cute that I wanted to snuggle up with but at the same time did not want to disturb her. Just makes you say ahhhhhh so cuuuute!

Oh yes, horse poop! Now that's delectable. Sounds like Chicky had a great time at the farm, enough to replay it in her dreams. What a sweetie.

Sid the collie was stretched out full on the sofa last night after a day in the woods, herding stuff in her sleep...she kicked and barked so hard that she slid off the sofa, landed flat on the floor, looked around and went back to sleep -

Stormy constantly re-runs her "Greatest Races" - complete with sound effects - when she dreams and she does this quite frequently. Yips and yaps and barks and legs going 19 to the dozen. Sunny has been known to kick her legs a bit - but that's all.

Funny to find this thread this morning.
Kawaii went to doggy daycare yesterday and I find that the evening after a day at daycare, she dreams more vividly.
This evening, her legs were wiggling away, her tail was wagging and thumping like crazy and her TONGUE was sticking way out and wiggling around too! I've never seen her tongue do that before! Must have been quite the dream!

Has anyone had a dog that had bad dreams? Corinna is very animated when she sleeps, running and barking, pretty normal doggie dreams. She also has what appears to be very aggressive dreams, she will growl and snarl and her hair will raise on the back of her neck. It's actually frightening to watch and very loud. She is definitely asleep and we never approach her when she sleeps because of this, although she has never sleep startled or had any space aggression before.
What gets me is that she is the most happy-go-lucky pup around when she is awake and nothing happens in her day that should cause aggressive dreams. I'm not really worried about it but more intrigued about what causes it.

Brook has 'bad' dreams where she growls, snarls, and ears move, but most of the time she's dreaming more happy thoughts and her tails wags, she moans and groans, and she runs, runs, runs. Her tongue usually escapes during these good dreams and is quite crisp and dry when she wakes up.

Kawaii has had some bad dreams I think. She seems distressed and defensive during those dreams. I don't touch but I softly call her name until she wakes up. On occasion I'll wake up in the middle of the night and she is howling full tilt...but is completely asleep. Don't know if those are good or bad dreams though but certainly vivid.
