So as I'm feeling sorry for myself for being home from work with a rotten sinus cold - Chicky & the cats just think it's great that I'm available all day for snuggling!
This afternoon the sun was shining so brightly & I was starting to go stir crazy lazing around so I thought I'd bundle myself up & take Chicky to the dog park this afternoon. She enjoys going there and has been interacting with more and more dogs each time we go. It's interesting to watch her avoid the real high-energy rough-housing dogs - she prefers the calm, polite attendees. But she never really runs there - only jogs. She saves all her running for the horse farm. Anyways today there was a whippet that arrived at the same time we did. Chicky had a blast - this whippet was the life of the party - thoroughly enjoyed being chased by all the dogs. Autumn was much younger that Chicky (only 3) so could go on & on like the energizer bunny. Eventually Chicky just walked along with me and watched the crazy antics of Autumn. Then after about a 20 min breather, there were 2 Aussies & a Sheltie giving a good chase but not coming anywhere close to catching Autumn - so Chicky took off like a flash and caught up to Autumn in no time - Autumn stopped dead in her tracks, gave a little yip and then sat down looking at Chicky as if to say "fine, you caught me you party pooper". All the dogs stopped running and went about their business. The whippet's owner laughed and said that Autumn has a greyhound friend back in Calgary (they are just visiting here in London) and the same thing happens at their dog park. He said it's as if the greyhounds let the whippets show off for awhile and then let it be known to all the dogs who is truly the fastest!
Too bad they were only visiting and too bad I yet again forgot to take my camera along!
