I've been thinking more and more about buying a sewing machine and trying my hand at making Summit some clothes. I don't really have time now but I thought it might be fun to have a few projects over the summer to slowly work at. Knowing me I'll probably make one or two things and then be sick of it. I'm not much for things like sewing.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any patterns for winter coats, fleece coats, PJs, racing slips, etc. that they would be willing to share, advice, sewing machine recommendations, etc?

I have a sewing machine but also have no patterns. I would also love to sew some coats and things. I actually CAN sew but I suck at backwards engineering a pattern from an intact article. And I don't want to take apart any of Summer's things in order to be able to make a pattern. So... I'm with Krissy! -- if anyone has any patterns to share, we'll take 'em!

I just got around to making Shaker and Kitty new coats. I'm glad I waited as fleece was on sale for 5 dollars a meter at fabricland.2 coats cost 34 dollars. My first attempt was not bad. I'll try to post pics.I used a pattern by Simplicity Crafts.#9520 .It has 9 slightly different patterns in it.

Just like Pam, I have the Simplicity pattern. The pattern is meant for "large dogs", and they fit Brook well. I have made a simple jammie "shirt" and it fits well. I made it out of a light flannel that I found on sale in the discount section of Fabricland. I got the pattern from ebay for about $5. There's a patter for race slips on there too.

What freaks me out with the patterns, unless they are deliberately for greyhounds, is the whole alteration thing. Is it easy???

I have some patterns from the old Greyhound Manor site that are copyright free. If you PM me an email address I'll send copies when I get back home.

Alice.... I'm very sure I have those Greyhound Manor patterns as well but they are stored at work. If Krissy and ownedbysummer can wait until tomorrow and if they can pm me with their email addresses, I'll get them sent off to you two. I made a couple of their coats and the dog boots as well, pretty straight forward sewing.
Edited to add today: For anyone who wants those greyhound sewing coat patterns from Greyhound Manor, I now have them. They contain the patterns, instructions and photos for making coats. Alice (Gigi) has them also but is out of the country until Sunday..

I have made lots of dog coats. we have owned Dobies for years and they are just as sensitive to the cold/wet as Greys. I have one pattern that I made up myself... I have also used Kwik Sew patterns. They can be downloaded from the Kwik Sew website..they have several different dog patterns. This is Nixon in his 4 legged PJ's...Kwik Sew #3076 I did have to make the back longer, and I shortened the hind legs a bit after I took this photo, as they were getting covered in snow.
