We've had Emily for a week now and she seems ravenous when we feed her. We use Purina pro plan wetted a bit. Bill said to give her three cups a day when we got her. We were giving her 1 1/2 cup twice a day at around the same time he fed her. After visiting Dr. Mockler at Brooklin for an introduction visit (she's in perfect health), she suggested to increase amount to 3 1/4 cups a day spread out into 3 meals because she would like to see her gain a little. The afternoon lunch being smaller sized with a bit of oats and yogurt. She's medium sized weighing about 60 lbs and seems to be always hungry. We can't walk into the kitchen without our buddy in tow. We don't give her any handouts when we eat. How much food and how many times do you feed?

We feed Sol 4 cups a day of the Purina Pro Plan, Turkey Barely, I think. We feed him 2 cups at 7:00am and then 2 cups at 5:30pm. We give him about 3/4 cups of warm water with each feeding. Some days it seems like he could eat more, and others he doesn't eat his 2 full cups. He weighs about 72 pounds. Hope this helps!

Echo, our 65lb female, eats about 3.5 cups of Technical Lamb Meal and Rice a day. My big boys, Atlas and Orion, get 4 cups. Icarus, 73lbs, gets about 3 3/4 cups. You can up her food for a bit to help her gain weight. It's usually best to keep them about 5lbs or so over race weight. Sometimes a bit more is necessary, but at a good healthy weight, you can still see the last rib or two on a greyhound.

Tyson is extremely tall and his race weight was 83lbs and he now weighs 86 lbs. He eats between 4.5 and 5 cups over three meals a day of Natural Balance. He sometimes seems like he could eat more if he has had a really active day (more than his usual two walks and playing around the house.).

Chase gets almost 5 cups a day of food, 2 big meals and one tiny lunch meal. After bringing Chase home, we noticed he started dropping weight, and the vet said he actually needed to gain a bit. We figured it was just because he was so much more active now. So we bumped up his food. Some days he wants the 5 cups, other days he's happy with 4 cups of food. He also gets treats, yogurt, pnut butter, cheese sometimes. And if he's a real lucky pup, he'll get a timbit when I go thru the drive-thru at timmy's!

Betsy and Edie are on Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish. In the summer, Betsy was on 1 1/2 cups twice a day (total 3), and her weight was 67+ lbs (a bit heavy). Edie was on 1 1/2 + 1 3/4 (total 3 1/4), and she was at 66+ (OK).
Last month they both lost weight, probably because the house is substantially colder. Betsy is now on 1 3/4 cups twice a day (total 3 1/2), and is down to 64 lbs, which is a pound or two too thin. Edie is at 1 3/4 + 2 (total 3 3/4), and is also about a pound below her optimal weight. Both may be increased again next week if their weight doesn't start to increase.
They only get a cookie (actually two) a day: after the late evening "go out and not pee". They also get a handful of kibble (less than 1/4 cup) at bedtime.
They walk about 2 1/2 miles per day (over three sessions), and do several retrieves in the yard.

when we first got sy in april up until about a month ago, he was eating his two cups in the morning of pro plan (bill's recommendation) and 2 cups in the evening. (he came to us at 76 lbs.) then about a month ago, he stopped eating his morning meal and would maybe pick at it a little bit and then leave it alone. took him to the vet last week because he was peeing in the house, a little more lethargic than normal and the not eating in the morning was bugging me. we're still in discussions about his lethargy (see my thread on hypothyroid), but the not eating thing, according to the vet could be because he has gained 8 pounds in the last three months (he is now 84 lbs) and probably doesn't feel the need to eat more than he needs. he has no problem eating in the evenings. so, i've started feeding him only 1 cup in the morning and then his regular meal in the evenings - that seems to have worked.

My 75 pound guy is eating Fromm Duck & Sweet Potato, Taylor eats Solid Gold Beef & Barley and Raven is on prescription food. I feed my greyhound about 4-4.5 cups a day over 2-3 meals but he seems to burn it off. My guys follow me every time I go into the kitchen as well so I never feed them from there - it's just too small for that much dog and myself! I'm not sure what the caloric/fat content is in Pro Plan but perhaps another high quality food if you can would be worth looking into.
