Hi everyone. I've been feeding Lakota raw for a while now. The other day I decided to give her a little bit of plain yogurt. She loved it! And she tends to be a picky eater.
So I was wondering how often I should give her it, and how much?
All your opinions are gratefully accepted.
Thank you Marlene

Hi Marlene, Our angel Jack LOVED yogurt (and ice cream!!). We gave him a big tabelspoon of yogurt every morning when we had some in the fridge. And an ice cream bar whenever a 'gotcha day' or birthday came around I remember reading somewhere that quite a few dogs are lactose intolerant though so we bought a yogurt that was close to lactose free (Bio Best).

I feed both plain yogurt every morning with their food! They love it and it's good for their stomach too! (good bacteria and stuff)...I give them both a big tablespoon of it each...Especially if your dog is on antibiotics or parasites medication I think it helps them a lot...
Good luck!

Plain is best, I give a tablespoon each for breakfast and for dinner. It's great for their stomachs, although I find that rice works way better than yogurt for any D that may be hanging around.

My houndies also get yogurt daily, usually a good tablespoon (sometimes twice a day). I use the Bio-Best, apparently it has the best level of probiotics (for dogs) and it is 90% lactose free.

i fill a kong every day with biobest and freeze it and Royal really likes it. I doesn't last very long...I tried cottage cheese and cream cheese with less enthusiastic response.

I put yogurt in kongs. I just get any kind of plain yogurt. Summit loves it. Warning though, if you have a dog that is prone to developing stones I wouldn't give too much yogurt as it can cause/increase the chances of stone formation. So can sardines, cheese, and lots of other things I give my dog. If they don't get stones I wouldn't worry about it, but if they do it's something to consider.
