Jeanie is home and loving it. Her and Vegas are night and day. Vegas would hardly ever come out of his crate, Jeanie hates it. The first night she howled and cried until I slept on the couch beside her. The second night I didn't even bother. She stayed beside our bed the whole night. Anyway, she was vetted last Friday (sept 14th), when should the stitches come out? Do we have to get them taken out at the vet, or do they come out on their own? I didn't even think to ask Bill and we don't really have a vet yet. She is a real people dog. She follows me around like bad credit. It's great. Pics to follow.

Congratulations on your family member. I can't wait to see pictures I think most stitches have to be removed but I could be wrong.

Usually, if they are not the dissolving kind of stitches, they would come out 7-10 days or so. I take them out myself, but you may not be comfortable doing that, and it's a good time to introduce her to your vet in any case.
Congratulations! She sounds greyt!

The stitches can stay in for a while. Cora's were in for two weeks. They're quite easy to take out if you have round-ended scissors and a compliant hound. However, as kjw said, you might as well introduce her to your (new) vet.

What the others said about her stitches. It's safe to leave them in for a bit. I remove them myself and the way that I judge that it's time to remove them is when I can freely wiggle them back and forth (no more scabbing holding them in place) and that the cut has completely closed.
Welcome home Jeanie!

WELCOME to Jeanie!!! Sounds like she is fitting in with your family and happy to be with you guys already! I took Barkley's stitches out myself after 17 days post - op; 14 days is recommended but we waited a couple extra days to be sure. I did not find it difficult to do and Barkley was not bothered at all, she barely moved and was lying on her side while I did it. I just used a pair of blunt first-aid type scissors and a pair of good tweezers, which I wiped with rubbing alcohol before using. Everying went fine! Let's see some pics of your new pup!
