Maybe getting a cheap pair of "winter" boots from Walmart, or one of the pet stores, to wear on his foot when you go for a walk. We did this for Icarus when his pads were thin and for Atlas since he scuffs his bad leg when he walks. The hot cement and asphalt at this time of year is brutal on sensitive toes. Our guys even dance a bit when the driveway is too hot, as they're waiting to enter the car.. it takes a few extra seconds to organize 4 dogs into our car. LOL Scritches for Mr. Squiggley Just wanted to add: Check his foot for corns, too. Many vets don't realize that Greys are susceptible to them. A corn looks like a smooth, circular piece of hardened skin. It is often yellowish in colour and can grow to stick out of the foot a bit.

Have you thought about a cream to rub on his pads? There are products made to help sensitive feet and toughen foot pads. One I have is called Invisible Boot. It is made for winter weather but it does provide a protective barrier. It is made from natural ingredients and is "lickable".
