Connor bit Hotwire this morning. I went outside for 1 min and came back to find Hotwire's cheek ripped open. I am still shaking. Luckily, our Vet is 5 mins away. We walked in and they took him immediately. He is going under general anesthetic, the gash is too close to the eye. The vet doesn't think that there is any damage to the eye, but wants to have a closer look. I am really upset. Everything always happens to my Hotwire. I thought Connor was starting to settle in, but I guess he is not quite there yet. I didn't think to muzzle him, cause I was just stepping outside for a min. Now I am sitting at home, going crazy......waiting.

Oh no! Any word yet? Things can happen fast that is for sure! When we first got Chevy he was "cat-workable" and I had just left the room to grab the ringing phone when I turned around to see Chevy pinning my Scooter (my cat) down in the corner!!! These are all learning experiences...don't beat yourself up too much. *hug* It is so hard to control everything all the time...things happen soooo quickly! I hope Hotwire is home soon and has a speedy recovery!

Poor Hotwire!
I'm always afraid of something like this happening. I don't muzzle any of ours but I know it only takes a second for something to happen. Spice is very affectionate and wants to be close to Bobby and Bailey. Bobby is getting used to it but Bailey will still growl if Spice touches her. I correct her right away but I guess I should take some precautions for when I'm not there.
I hope Hotwire feels better really soon! I'm sure Connor feels bad for what happened. Let us know how he's doing whenever you find out anything.

I'm so sorry this has happened.
Did they scrap? or did Hotwire just come up with the owie on his face?
Healing thoughts for Hotwire!

The Vet has updated us, Hotwire has come out of the General anesthetic, and is moving around a bit. It sounds like everything went well.

I'm glad everything went well. Hopefully Hotwire will be home soon?
Cleo and Cole had a bit of an "argument" last week. Fortunately it didn't require a vet visit or stitches but it was still scarey how quickly it happened.

Oh no!! Poor Hotwire, hugs and scritches from me. Hugs to you and Connor too. Please don't be upset with yourself or Connor, accidents happen.

it happens so fast that there's no way to predict it or prevent it. Our Skye got a three cornered tear in the skin in his shoulder because one of the borzoi nipped at him as he ran past and must have connected. Don't blame yourself.

Sorry to hear about the injury - I've afraid I've become an expert at treating this stuf out of finanacial necessity lol, it doesn't take much, just a nail in the wrong place at the wrong time, or a small nip and zip! There goes the skin!
Sending white light for Hotwire and the rest of the family. Have a stiff one when you can, it helps!

It was a major laceration just below the eye that included most of his cheek. It did not hit any vital structures though. There are about 40 sutures, and alot of swelling. He has major, bloody big D today and has vomited his meds up and I am sick today too. He is pretty depressed today, as am I

Ow! The poor guy! I'm sorry to hear it was so bad. I know it doesn't help, but considering how close to his eye it was, it sounds like it could have been alot worse. Is he able to eat at all?
I hope Hotwire heals quickly and the two of you start to feel better really soon.
