I would also like to see some sort of process put in place where other grey families could possibly help contribute toward medical costs for lfie and death situations such as this. I do not believe that money should ever be the overwhelming factor in deciding a course of action. I'm not sure how this could be done and am open to ideas. I know I would gladly assist where I could. I agree, it would be great to be able to set up an emergency fund for life and death situations. However, that will come with all kind of burocracy: setting up the fund, collecting money, arranging fundraisers etc. Of course the hardest part would be the decision making: which emergency deserves a contribution. And.... is your emergency as "serious" as my emergency. Maybe a more casual appoach with individual appeals on a case by case basis would work better! We also would gladly contribute to help those in such serious situations within the Greyhound family.

Welcome home Cleo!!!
Re: a Medical Fund. I don't think it would be a good idea. Not everyone would be able to contribute at all times and Marilyn makes a good point. This is what Pet Insurance is for. I'd rather donate money to help Bill's medical bills, anyway.

Cleo continues to improve. ;D The swelling is completely gone now. She is more steady on her feet. She went for her first walk yesterday beyond out street. It was still only a few blocks but she was checking pee-mail so she is almost back to her old self.
She had a vet checkup today and she is happy with her progress. Her blood count is back up in the normal range and we can start getting her back on a more normal diet. She will be getting 3 smaller meals a day instead of 2 larger ones to help her stomach. She lost a lot of weight (down to 58 lbs) so she is really skin and bones. It looks really bad. I am almost afraid someone will think we don't feed her.
I can't wait for her to be back to her old self. The way things are going it looks like we may be able to make it to the GRA picnic.

Glad all is well, and sorry about the mounting bills
A contact list is an excellent idea, Both Sunny and Maya have health problems where I could find myself myself in the same boat

I have a credit card for emergency situations with my pups, and if I was going to donate money, I'd like it to go help Bill with the many pups he brings in. I'm glad to hear Cleo is doing better! I would have called you - Nina is a blood donor, but I hadn't checked the board until after everything was done with! Sorry . I have no problem with joining an emergency contact list if someone needs a donor in the area.

Great idea for the medical fund group, but there would be just way too much red tape in order to set it up and have a trustee to manage the money etc, etc,.
