Tree 1 - Hotwire 0 Hotwire was at a full run (chasing 2 dobies), and ran directly into a 2" thick tree. He tore open his shoulder a bit. He has about a loonie size hole in his shoulder. The vet had to cut off a flap of skin today, but she did not want to stitch it as the injury was yesterday. He is now on antibiotics Poor boy!

Hotwire is at the vet now. The wound would not scab over and it just kept bleeding. They are doing a local anesthetic and putting a few staples in. We should be able to pick him up in about an hour.

Poor boy. Hope it heals quickly.
Atlas knows how nasty those trees are, he cut his foot open on a twig that our neighbours tree dropped in our yard. It took 2.5 weeks to heal.

Darn trees! I heard that sometimes they jump in front of moving cars too! Is it true Grey's skin is really delicate? I've never had one so I don't have any experience (yet) . I hope Hotwire heals very quickly and painlessly. Tell him that those bad trees do the same to cars sometimes.

Hotwire was the best boy at the vet. It would appear that he is fairly cat-safe! He has 5 staples in his shoulder, but it has stopped bleeding and it looks much better.
To answer your question, Yes, greyhounds have pretty delicate skin. It is a lot thinner than ours.

Poor Hotwire! I hope it won't keep him and his family away from meeting his friends later this morning at Norwood.
