I am looking for new winter coats for my boys, last winter down here in NJ was so cold and snowy I was putting 2 fleece coats on them. I know you guys up north know how to deal with the cold so I figured you had some links for nice warm winter greyhound coats. Thanks in advance for any info.

www.dog-e-designscanada.comThis is where our houndies coats come from. Not only coats, but joggers which cover their legs. When you explore this site, you'll see she ships everywhere AND, what impresses me most is that she makes the garments to fit YOUR dog EXACTLY. You just send in the measurements. Our last purchase was a Berber coat. We sent her the dimensions on a Wed. She made and shipped the coat on Thurs. and we had it on Friday morning. Mind you, we aren't too far away from her so the shipping was FAST. It might take a bit longer to get to you.

Check out Greenhawk they have greyhound sized winter coats for under $30 ... my guy is 83 pounds and wears a size XL . At the end of the season you can pick them up for like 50% off (just don't be too picky on color).
I know my ex bought Server a coat from House of Earl and it looks great on Serv.

Mind you, we aren't too far away from her so the shipping was FAST. It might take a bit longer to get to you. I ordered the "patch coat" and I like it. The GHLG size fits Leo (he's big). They made a mistake with the embroidery though, I wanted black colour with the greyhound running towards the front, but they did it in red with the greyhound running backwards (towards the back of the coat). They didn't offer to fix it. Also, the GHLG jogger should've fit Leo according to the measurements, but it was WAY too small, not wearable. I gave it to my sister who has a small male greyhound, and it fits him nicely. (Customized items can be made, but as I said, I ordered the jogger based on Leo's measurements.) I like the personalized embroidery with the dog's name, and that it's waterproof. Alone, it's a nice spring/fall coat, and with the jogger, it's warmer for winter. There's an ear snuggler as well (which Leo never used last winter, just because as I said he rarely went out). I also have the Greenhawk 600d fleece blanket which is waterproof. My sister has the 420d which is water resistant (but has seemed to be fine in wettish snow/light rain) -- this style seemed to fit better than the waterproof fleece one. They are nice cheap coats, but just don't fit greyhounds all that well (the belly strap won't be able to be done up very snug). So, they let cold air in. They have elastic leg straps to keep the blanket on, but they don't need to be used (my sister tried using them once, but they rub the skin, since greyhounds don't have much hair). But, very cheap (as serversmum says, especially at the end of the year), and very good for an extra coat (Leo goes to the dog park and his patch coat got quite wet and muddy at times, it was nice to have an extra!) www.greenhawk.net/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/scstore/c-Blankets_and_Sheets_-_Dog_Blankets.html?L+scstore+rnhf7309ff76fa76+1280572925If you're looking for something VERY warm: www.bwdogcoats.com/winter-dog-coats.htmlThey're based in the U.S. I haven't bought from them but their coats look amazing and I've been admiring them since last winter! I was thinking of buying one, but then Leo broke his leg and was indoors most of the winter. They will add things like reflective strips and leash/harness openings, and offer custom colours and sizing and other options (ex: tummy warmer for girls, just a band for boys who may pee on the tummy warmer; different neck styles). Maybe this year. The coats are not cheap, but there's a 20% discount for orders before Aug. 31st according to the website. Here's another popular greyhound coat company (based in Canada but ships to the U.S.): www.chillydogs.ca/chillyWearLongAndLean.html

I see DOG-E-DESIGNS has a SALE on now of WINTER COATS. We're going to order a Patch coat for Sunny. We spray Stormy's with a water proof spray and it becomes completely water repellant. We were given a Greenhawk coat and had to take it into the dressmakers to take 8" off the belly band but they are a good, heavy coat - almost too heavy sometimes.

I like the SNOOD idea. Where do we find your prices? I don't have my prices on the website yet. Coats usually start at $60.00 for a standard size greyhound but varies for smaller or larger. I also make coats for other breeds as well - large or small. Misty in her rip-stop Pocket coat Liz

Snoods (hoods) are included with each coat ordered and as with the winter coats can be attached or seperate. Winter boots will be available. Production of boots will begin in November. They are made with the same Denier as my coats. Waterproof with fleece lining, leather bottoms and toe caps with velcro closure. Liz
