i thought today would be a good day to let the boys go for a run in their fenced area - it's nice and mild today and they're both going a bit stir crazy since it's been so cold and they can't stay outside for very long - all was going well - they were leaping through the snow and doing circles around their sun-shade, which is a covered area we built out of 4x4 fence posts with a roof on it so they have lots of shade in the summer - well, rainy slipped going around a post, started screaming, scared sunny too - he managed to hobble over to me and when i got him inside i saw a huge gaping hole on the outside of his groin area! - no blood - but knew right away stitches were in order - - - - so i am writing this as i'm waiting for the vets to call after he's all stitched up - they've put him right under - they were going to try to just mildly sedate him, but i guess that didn't sit very well with him - so please send good thoughts his way - i'll be picking him up in a couple of hours - janis

i just had rainy out for his morning walk - we went slow and not very far - it breaks my heart to see him so slowed down from one day to the next - the vets were very pleased with how he handled the anesthetic - lots and lots of stitches - and no antibiotic pills because they gave him a long lasting shot instead - i just have to keep an eye on it of course - thanks for you good thoughts - we really appreciate them! - janis and rainy

hi all! - thanks for all your good wishes! - rainy is doing much better - it quite a few days for him to get back to his regular lively self - he seemed kinda sad - i'm sure he was having some pain around the stitches - but now he is jumping to go out and greet us when we come home and he's very very anxious to go for a run - but that will be awhile yet - he has managed to pull out 1 or 2 stitches so i'm keeping a close eye on the wound to make sure it doesn't come open - thanks again for your thoughts and concern - janis and rainy
