Our Suzy has dry eye and she doesn't make tears in her one eye. Our vet has given us drops, and ointment to put on it 2 times a day. Does anyone have any other ideas or has heard of anyother greys having this condition? What we are giving Suzy does ok, but her eye does get crusty and gooey.

Sorry to hear about Suzy's dry eye. I haven't heard about other greys, but prior to having greys, our family had Westies (very cute, too). One of the family's westies also had dry eyes requiring the daily use of drops. My in-laws found they could buy the drops at the drugstore instead of through the vet for a fraction of the cost (virtually the same medication). It may be worth checking with your vet to see if there is an over the counter version of the drops that would be cost effective as well as medically effective. Just a suggestion! Hope things clear up for Suzy.

How does a grey get dry eye? Is this something that can be prevented or is it hereditary?
