My neighbour rescued a grossly overweight chocolate lab about 6wks ago. This poor girl (the lab) was so overweight that she could only drag herself along the floor! Misty (the lab) has already lost a bit weight and is walking and playing with my neighbour's shepherd mix. My neighbour said Misty is coming along just fine but she is concerned b/c Misty's poop is always brownish-green in colour. The poop is well-formed. Misty's food was changed from PC food to Technical when my neighbour took her...she seems to be doing well on the food... Any ideas/advice on why Misty's poop is greenish?

Have they been feeding her any green coloured treats? The colour of food you feed tends to reflect in their droppings. Green food/treats (like a vegetable milkbone or a breathbuster or even a greenie) will produce green poops.

This sounds gross but is it like a khaki color? My lab's was like that when on his prescription food. Tara We have experienced the same thing with our late 15 years old Retriever - also rescued, overweight, and totally out of shape. The vet back then told us that the pancreas responsible for bile production, and the liver function breaking down fatty acids are so screwed up in the dog due to the combination of garbage food, extra weight, lack of exercise garbage diet .. etc... that it wasn't even funny. Once we stripped about 60lb off of the 140lb dog, things became "somewhat" normal again. Due to the negligence some inherited health issues were reversible, some unfortunately were permanent and it was actually his damaged liver that took him over the rainbow bridge.
