I just read a message on my bouvier list concerning the death of a lab mix dog. The dog had consumed about half a cannister of raisins. Within a few hours, he was vomiting, shaking, and showing signs of extreme distress. The vet did all he could but eventually the owners opted for euthanasia.
Raisins and grapes are very toxic to dogs. They cause kidney failure. Apparently as few as 7 raisins or grapes can cause severe problems or death.
At this time of year when people are busy baking and having goodies around, it is easy for our pets to get into things they should not.
Now I know why I am not a big raisin fan.

This is a wonderful reminder to us, especially at this time of year. Add to that list, onions and chocolate. Watch your goodies, folks

I know we are not to feed dogs chocolate (heart attack), raisins/grapes, and onions (which I don't). But why can't dogs have onions?

Onions mess up their red blood cells.

Avocado is also toxic to dogs. And watch out for those pointsettias if your pup eats plants!

Apple seeds I've heard are to be avoided too....some Dogs really love Apples....just to the seeds out.
