If your vet is going by T4 values only, have him run a thyroid panel and also make sure he is aware that t4 is lower in greyhounds that other breeds. T4 values can change for other reasons, which is why a panel is necessary to properly diagnose It is a good idea to take this article to your vet which include info about testing a treating, some vets try to maintain the T4 using meds much too high, ideally they should be maintained between 1.5 and 2. anything over can make them "hyper" thyroid instead and that can even be worse than being Hypo. greyhound-data.com/dir/396/Hypothyroidism_in_Greyhounds.pdfIf Tigger does indeed have hypothyroidism treatment is easy to manage and the meds are not all that expensive the testing is the most expensive part, and results from usually are noted within a month and Tigger will seem happier and more playful. Once the vet is actually doing the dental they may find the teeth is not as bad as they originally thought or that more need to come out, it is hard to tell beforehand for sure, Sunny's 2nd last dental 10 were removed, more than what he had guessed and on his last dental they thought several more would need to be pulled and only 2 had to come out.

As ontariogreys said, Greyhounds are often misdiagnosed as having thyroid problems. Their values are typically lower than other breeds. If he's not showing symptoms, then I wouldn't medicate even if he's lower than the greyhound level. Why medicate if there's no problem? I hope Tigger's dental goes well I know Orion will soon need a few teeth out, too.

I am kind of scared about the vet visit tomorrow tho, I am just s afraid that they will find something else horrible wrong with my baby boy. When they took him away to take blood today I wanted to cry, he looked back at me with his tail between his legs as if to say "Mommy, please dont let them do this"

Nothing yet, they sent the blood work off. Good news is that he may not need the dental work, they gave him some antibiotics that might clear the infection up. Hopefully tomorrow they call about the thyroid problem
