Devin had this batch on his tail that just looked like a clump of mud yesterday. I cleaned it and once all the "mud: was gone so was his fur in that one spot. This morning I checked it and just a little higher up from the bald patch there was another huge clump of "mud"...this just happened over night without him going outside. What is it? When I cleaned the original spot it wasn't like flea dirt...ya know, where it is like dried blood when wiped with a white cloth/paper towel. It just looked like dirt. I do not see any "bugs". MY skin is crawling probably as much as his! Man, this summer just sucks for my poor babies!!! OK, I started to panic about a parasite running rampant thru my house and eating my eight fur-kids alive so I went to the vet. She knows I have O.P.P.S. (over protective parent syndrome) and is super awesome at keeping my babies healthy and putting my mind at ease. The vet did some skin scrapping and shaved most of tail to get a better look. The skin scrapping was negative for parasites but did show lots of bacteria. She also found Devo's lymph nodes to be a bit swollen. So he got some antibiotics and his tail wrapped so that he can't chew it...I'll take a pic if I can find some more batteries for the digi-cam.

vet. She knows I have O.P.P.S. (over protective parent syndrome) ;D ;D I'm going to mention this to my vet. She doubtless thinks I have it too. One day when she walked in to the examining room and asked what was wrong, I had to admit that we probably had a case of Owner Panic. I hope Devin is better soon.

Good to hear that it wasn't anything too serious.
Icarus and Atlas are both itchy at this time of year.
