Hi
Just had Apollo at the vets for his shots (he was missing a couple which Bill didn't realize till we picked him up) It was a new vet at the local vet clinic and she is suggesting either revolution or Advantage plus for both dogs. last year I used Advantage and Interceptor. any one have any thoughts on this? To be honest I don't like this vet (i don't get a good feeling when speaking with her - can't explain it) or the vet hospital but there is only a choice of 2 in Waterdown. i am very tempted to go back to my original vet in St. Catharines - she is much more realistic but she is a little far in case of emergency. Any suggestions for a vet in Burlington?

Royal Ford Vet Hospital 610 Ford Dr. 905-337-1880
This vet is in Oakville, does the vetting for 2 greyhounds adoption groups, so lots of greyhound experience
I use Interceptor and only if needed would use Advantage, have not had any fleas for years

My mom has been going to Dr. McKay who's located on Lakeshore, close to Burloak. She's been very happy with his services for over 15 years. Not too sure how familiar he is with Greys. Give him a call...hope this helps!

There's a thread on GT of greyhound savvy vets if you take a boo over there. Might find some close to you!

Everywhere I've gone for vets they've used or suggested different things. At my usual vet, they use Heartgard and Advantage.
Because my guys are blood donors, we went through the E-Vet here in London, this year. We have Sentinel (an all-in-one tablet). I also have Advantage on hand because Sentinel only sterilizes fleas, it doesn't kill them like Advantage does.

I am curious if anyone uses natropathic flea control as opposed to Advantage/Program ect? Is there also something in this line for Heartworm/Worms. I have checked a couple of Natural remedy sites and will keep looking but everything I have found will kill/sterilize fleas and I would like to repel them before they get in my house. Thanks

I live in Burlington and have always gone to Chedoke Animal Hospital. It's on Mohawk Rd. near the 403 and Ancaster border. Dr. Carol DeVenne is a sight hound specialist - she has always owned borzois and whippets. Highly recommended. If you want to make an appointment there ask for her specifically because there are a few other vets working at the same clinic.

Thanks I too would like to find a more natural solution...especially after this last round of Advantage! I applied the Advantage to all the boys' necks before bed and the next morning I found the Advantage that rubbed off Devin's neck on to my end table leg had ate thru the finish!!! If it is strong enough to eat thru wood finish I do not think I want that stuff on my pupppers ever again! I read that tea tree oil repels/kills fleas but you would have to bath your pet in it once a week for it to be effective...that is ALOT of baths!

Yet, it seems to be fine on my guys. I accidentally "tasted" some and had no ill effects from it. Though, I don't recommend trying it... it tastes like crap.

My guys are on program right now. I just finished reading the book by Cynthia Branigan and she says "Program" is okay for them as is Advantage. So until I find something naturopathic that will work and is not requiring weekly baths. I'll keep researching.
