Timbit, my Syrian hamster and only pet, died yesterday at the age of 1 year 2 months. I was on vacation, and my friend was taking care of him. Yesterday he couldn't even open his eyes, he was so lethargic. I got home to get a phone call with the news. I took the best care of him I could, I thought he'd live to at least 3. He didn't make it even halfway there. I hope you don't mind that he's a hamster, I don't have a grey. Here's a picture of him, and his cage, on his website- syriangold.piczo.com/myhamster?preview=y&sl=0&st=630&cr=4I miss you, Timbit.

I'm sorry Pokerflatt, they might be small animals, but they are dear pets nonetheless.
Timbit looks like my little Syrian, Peter.
RIP Timbit

I am so sorry Pokerflatt. Timbit was as much a beloved pet as any grey could be.

Haha, thanks... I entered it in the Petsmart Pet birthday photo contest. Even though he didn't win, he was certainly cute.

Dee - have no regrets re: Timbit - I bet you gave him a fantabulous 1yr 2mos!!! IMHO it takes a special person to love a rodent

PokerFlatt, I am very sorry for your loss. I too only have a hamster, no Grey just yet. It is always hard losing a pet no matter what size they are. They are your family. My little fellow, Allister, is 1 year and 2 months (roughly) and he is starting to develop a grey patch of fur on his back. My guy is a Campbell's (Russian) Dwarf Hamster. Similar in size to your Timbit. So, I am starting to wonder about my fellow because of that patch and knowing they live to the age of 3.
But it is hard when you lose them. I am sorry for your loss. Timbit looked like a very happy and cute hammy.

What a little cutie. They may be tiny members of the family but leave big holes in our hearts when gone. I'm sorry

I'm so sorry about Timbit.
My little gerbil, Mama, has been slowing down considerably the past few months, and is showing her age more each day. I got her second-hand (we love our 'recycled' pets here!) so I don't even know how old she is for sure, but I think she's coming to the end of her days.
Even though most people consider small pets "disposable" I've never felt that way. I cried all day when my hamster passed away a year and a half ago, so I feel your pain and again, my condolences for your loss.
