i adopted kio 3 years ago. i picked the biggest, oldest one there because i wanted to give him a second life. we had the 3 best years of my life together. kio started to limp on monday, i thought it was his arthritis. made a vet appoint for the friday. by wed he stopped eating. took him in on friday, bloodwork came back fine. but he was now vomitting and not keeping anything down. we put him on iv for the day. i took him home and slept on the floor with him. sunday he was bleeding from both ends and couldn't catch his breath. fever on 42. the vet said his time had come.i'm glad he didn't suffer long, but it caught me totally off guard. i thought he's only been ill a few days, its curable. still not sure what his illness was. i hoping i didn't miss something i should have caught sooner. i still suffer guilt at putting him down. i miss him so much. he was the best boy ever tracey

I'm sure you did all you could for Kio and I am also sure he knew it! Don't feel guilty about putting his comfort first because it does them no favours allowing them to linger. Its just such a shock when it happens so quickly. Take comfort yourself in the knowledge that you did give him a second chance and treasure the time you did have. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

I am so sorry, Tracey. How lucky Kio was to have you in his life when he needed you most. I'm sure these were the best three years of his life too.

I'm very sorry to hear about Kio.
My coworker had told me about what had happened earlier this week, as she had spoken with you on tuesday.
My thoughts are with you and i'm truly sorry for your loss.

Kio was clearly loved quite deeply. What more could a dog ask for - or any of us, either.
Run free at the bridge, Kio.

We are so sorry.
Saying good bye is so very hard, but it was the kindest thing you could do.
Cherish your memories and take comfort in knowing Kio had the best of families in you.
Take care and be gentle with yourself. You did what was best for your loved family member and he would thank you for that.
