So, I'm brand new! I know that some issues will go away and may not even BE issues but I just want to be sure...
I've had them since about 10 this morning and it's 8PM. We have two and neither have gone Number 2. Is that normal? They've been out several times and have peed each time.
I know they like to lounge around and so do we. That's ok right? I feel like I need to entertain them....the last dog I had was a Bichon Frise that liked to play games, etc. So...if they're fine lounging, so am I! Just want to make sure they're not bored...
Lastly, I'm not sure but I think one is biting/licking his neutering...area. I've been trying to keep him from doing that but...is that what he's most likely doing?
Ok...I think that's it for now.
Thanks for any advice or help.

I wouldnt worry yet.when i brought my first one home he floped down on a bed and went to sleep for about 6 hours. The second one,he was just crazy for the house running all over jumping stealling the others stuffies.IT takes a while for them to fit in.you are very lucky that you havent been visited by the nervous poop fairy, most of the dogs are very sensitive to change causing upset tummy and a bad case of the runs.

Congratulations on your new pups. We need to see some pictures. I wouldn't worry. It's a huge adjustment for them and you, when I first brought my guy home I was a nervous wreak. We all survived. lol

Congratulations on adopting. Our Ty will come to us when he wants us to entertain him and when he doesn't he lays with his back to us LOL. It is hard when you had/have an "active, in-need-of-entertainment" breed (we also have an attention grabbing Lab) to get used to a greyhound who will acknowledge you when they want to ... MAYBE! I hope the adjustment period for your pup and you continues to proceed smoothly. Tara, Tyson and the gang

Well said, Tyson's mom. Dash and my previous grey fit your description perfectly!
Greyhounds have such a relaxing effect, in the same way as cats do when you see them enjoying their naps. Dash only gets excited in the evening when he knows it's time for a walk and that's also when he gets silly and playful.
Enjoy your new pups!

Yup, don't worry too much about not going poop yet. Are you leash walking them for potty or are they going out into a yard? Sometimes they are a little "leash shy" when it comes to pooping on lead.. if they have to go, they'll go As for lounging.. greys are lazy.. flat out. They don't tend to require entertaining. Unless they ask you for it, don't worry about it. Out of ours, only Uber requires stimulation, but he asks us by barking when he's feeling bored and needs attention. As for licking the neuter area, I'd keep an eye on it that it's not infected (is it red? inflamed?) It could be that he's just trying to keep it clean. That's normal. How long ago was he neutered? A fresh cut will be more tender/itchy than an older one. Finally, Congratulations! Who did you bring home?

Congratulations!..can't wait to see some pics of your pups We've had Charm for 3 weeks as of tomorrow and she's either lounging on her bed or going crazy..there seems to be no in between with her. When she's playful she is certainly the one entertaining us! As for the licking...she stopped licking the area as soon as the stitches came out but do watch for signs of infection-maybe it's just itchy? Anyway..we felt just like you do now and so far so good...I'm sure all will be well with you too. Enjoy!!

Thanks so much for the encouraging words everyone!! They WERE a bit 'leash shy" I think, Jiffer but they're going now - though it takes them a while. The licking has all but stopped and I think it was just because it was fresh (last Wed - two days before we picked them up) but I will definitely look closely for a little longer to make sure.
How/Where do I post more pics???
Oh and I brought home Niner and Trail - Pa's Forty Niner and Verde Mt. Trail to be specific.
